But it's just a shitty thing, especially for women. As discussed here before, our salaries are often 25% lower than a man's doing the same work. And part of that is not negotiating hard enough and also getting caught in the "paid low in entry-level work and raises are based on the low wage" scenario.
This is so exactly me it makes me want to cry. Or cockpunch someone.
Speaking of all of which (jobs and salaries, not cockpunching), I just submitted for a job in another department here that would be kind of a stretch and kind of a doddle, and in many ways a welcome change. PLEASE let them call me, please, please! This is the fourth or maybe fifth application in a little over a month, and all the others have been like pitching my resume down a black hole.
eta: ithin the Uni, they are supposed to only ever offer you 10% even when changing positions (which I know is not true, but whatevs) and that is what I got with my last one.
Gah. That worries me. I can't remember whether the rule is the same at my uni; it sounds unpleasantly familiar, and if it is then I'm well and truly hosed. No advances likely within my current position, and the next career track up would be more than 10%. Bah.
Skipped like a skippy thing to say that I am settling in to watch David Tennant in Hamlet on PBS!
Oh, JZ. Vibing! Vibing HARD for you!
I just saw the funniest thing on Facebook. An "interview" an acquaintance took:
Question: If you won the lottery, how would you spend your millions?
Answer: smartely
Skipped like a skippy thing to say that I am settling in to watch David Tennant in Hamlet on PBS!
!!!!!!!!
Thank god PBS shows things again. TiVoing the overnight showing.
Sophia, I'm sure P can ask for help at the grocery if something confuses him. He's an adult right? He should be able to figure out a grocery list.
You know, I just remembered why I don't watch Glee, despite the fact that it seems taylor-made for me. I just made it 2:53 before "watch from the hall" made me click pause.
He's an adult right?
That is questionable, but he is 40! He still usually eats the meal prepared for the kids, which is fries and chicken nuggets. Except he doesn't eat chicken. He basically will only eat unseasoned beef, pasta, fries or mashed potatoes. AAARGH!!!
Can you give him specific brands of things that might be confusing? I know I spent a long time in front of the hummus area of my supermarket just the other day!
And please just ask people for rides.
Tennant is kind of looking like my friend Kenneth wiht his hair slicked back. Weird.
OK, this is making the rounds on my coworker's facebook pages and staff mailing list : [link] (shout outs, 3 minutes in.) and [link]
I love it. Really, really love it.
