I wore things to my ankles and long sleeves in Ethiopia, also a shawl to cover my head. I remember places in Germany in the 80s and some places in Italy in the early 00s that would not allow tank tops and shorts. I carried a cardigan in Italy.
Jesse, when I was in Greece I wore skirts that fell about three inches below my knees for church visits. I had no problems going into churches. I wasn't around any mosques, though, so I don't know if requirements there are different.
There were also women going into churches in shorts, but I was in pretty tourist-heavy areas. The people running the churches may have been resigned to it.
OK, I'll have to get some pants then. Man, I hate buying pants!

I'm not sure if I really have skirts that long that I'd want to sightsee in, anyway. I think my casual skirts tend to be right at the bottom of my knees.
