this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I am noticing that, over the past 3 days of no gluten, my blood sugar is all wonky. It drops like a stone about 3 hours after eating, which never happens to me.

The internets tell me, anecdotally, that such a phenomenon is not uncommon when someone gives up gluten. But, you know, just knowing that it isn't uncommon doesn't really make me feel better, damn it.

Tonight's dinner is rice bowls (rice [duh], refried beans, salsa, whatever else is in the fridge that looks good), and if any rice is leftover, I'm going to make it into sticky rice with mango.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

pasta and broccoli and butter with garlic or a splash of white wine sounds yum.

I think I am having a bowl of cereal and a couple of clementines for dinner. I've got the half the rice and Indian food packed for lunch tomorrow, plus celery and carrots and almond butter to snack on. I am also taking in fish for lunch on Tuesday. Hopefully I'll get salad greens Monday night to go with that.

So far I'm down one canned good and half a jar of almond butter for the week thus far.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I was already planning it, but tonight's dinner is arugula and white beans with seared tuna and a wasabi lime dressing. Very appropos in light of today's conversation.

“Not dead yet!”

I just inadvertently hit the lever on the underside of my chair and sank down as I was attempting to type.

Imagery is funny, but I got my leg caught under the chair and my ankle gave a disturbing crack.

I'ma attempt to get feeling back in my leg now.

lisah, I'd wait on the shot and take him in in the morning. That way they can do a full curve to see if he's not responding as well.

I hope nothing is broken, Barb. Yikes.

ION, I hate shopping. Really. Everything is ugly out there right now or ridiculously priced. I hate the 80s. I hate sloppy jersey knits. I hate bras. And I hate that Target magically managed to be out of the staples I needed. I swear to god, restocking is stores is getting really pathetic lately. It was bad enough, I got anxious to get home to clean. And I forgot to get syringes, which means I have to go again later in the week.

In summary, HATE.

Oh, ouch, Barb--I hope nothing's wrong!!

I'm in the middle of doing my waaay overdue laundry right now. I had to wait since someone else beat me to the washers, but finally got in an hour later.

It cuteness news, my kitty has taken to "loafing" on a pile of pillows. She looks like "The Princess and the Pea".

Mine did two things she's never done before today. One wasn't so good (she horked up on the couch--luckily, I caught it soon after said horkage occurred), but the other was really cute. I had the bottom drawer of my chest open to pull out a sweatshirt (it got really cold when the cold front moved in this afternoon), and she couldn't resist the drawer being open about four inches and finally got her whole body in to lay down on the sweats. She was only in there a minute or so, but oh so adorable!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Try a little cheese or a handful of almonds or walnuts just before your predicted blood sugar drop, Teppy. Protein and fat--just a little--can help stabilize your glucose.

Barb, ow. I hope nothing's damaged.

lisah, I have no idea what to tell you, I've never dealt with a diabetic cat. But you and he have my stable overnight health wishes.

Erin, you're absolutely beautiful in those pictures. Well, all the time, but especially on your wedding day.

I think I'm going to cook some whole wheat penne pasta and then toss a ton of veg in there. Baby spinach, grape tomatoes, cucumber, red and green onion, sugar snap peas, bell pepper, and top it off with garlic, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.

I've been looking for dresses, partly because of What Not To Wear and partly because my coworker is getting married next month and the only dresses I own are black. I ordered this in green and also this dress. And some denim pencil skirts. I hope they fit.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

The green dress is so cute- I wanted to order it, but they didn't have my size.

I am making broccoli, egg noodles, butter and garlic. With vermouth.

hip deep in pie

This conversation has made me look into CSAs here. There's one that will give you 10 lb of organic beef a month for $55. There's one dedicated solely to root crops, and a few others. There's also an organic food co-op that does weekly boxes, and delivers to your door.

It's tempting, because I wouldn't have to schlepp to the farmers market unless I have to, but I fear the spoilage.
