I've been to Pilates class and am now about to go out and put weed fabric down over the North 40, so we can put the raised bed in and start planting!!!!!!!!
Happy to have a fun task, as we had dinner with friends last night and found out that some other friends we know are going through a hugely tough time. They are one of those couples where everyone likes the husband more than the wife, because she is kind of controlling and bitchy and more than a little status-obsessed--but now the husband has fallen off the wagon after many years. He stopped drinking in his early 20s, before they even met, so this is a whole new thing for her. They have a little daughter and it's very sad.
A woman I went to Library School with just had a baby boy named Malcolm Owen Damien. I know she's a HUGE Firefly fan, and part of me wonders if he's named after Cpt. Tightpants.
Oh Scrappy that sucks. A cursory glance at my couple friends reveals it's most often the husband who is unlikable. But most of the couples I know are made of two awesome people.
I love living in the future -- the Treasury has a PDF gift certificate you can fill out and print out yourself.
Awesome!!!!
Captain Tightpants, Never Kill a Boy on the First Date, Put the dog down, Damien.
Totally pop culture name.
The savings bond is a really good idea, Jesse. Hee, living in the future.
And I'm sorry about your friends, Scrappy. Something like that is like a time bomb. Sometimes it never goes off at all. And most times, one never sees the trigger coming.
ETA:Ow. Tortured metaphor. Moar coffee, STAT.
I've cleaned and washed the greens for dinner. My vague plan right now is green soup -- make soup with pretty much all the cooking greens in my fridge, onions, garlic, vegetable broth, maybe potatoes, maybe beans, and puree it. I'm probably going to improvise as I go along, though -- I'm not sure about the pureeing step, so I'll see how it looks then. This also kind of seems like it needs something lemony, but I'm not sure if I'll just put in some lemon juice or make some kind of lemony creamy thing to drizzle on top.
That sounds yum. Some acid would probably be a nice note.
I also have a lot of greens to do something with but I made soup a couple of weeks ago and I'm really not such a huge soup person right now.
brenda, I would still love your Revised Theory Of Eating, when/if you ever write it down. Or put pixels on screen. You know.
But if you don't, that's cool too; no pressure implied.
That actually sounds like a project I could tackle today. I was grappling with some med side effects (that actually I might want to pick your brain about in return) that was making me struggle a bit so I didn't really get what I wanted out.
I just started some cashews soaking to make a lemon cashew cream to drizzle on top of the soup, which I think now means that I'll have to puree it, because I can't really see drizzling something on top of a non-pureed soup. Hmm. I've got some thyme -- that'll probably be good in this soup.
