I want a truck.
megan, thanks for the link to seatguru, way back. That will make my traveling life much better.
msbelle, I love those old chairs! My grandmother had a few of them. I saw some new versions at Lowe's yesterday and almost bought a couple.
javachik, the eyebrows look amazing! My niece, who has alopecia, had eyebrows done, and she's really happy with them, too.
organic roasted potatoes from dinner, now lunch.
I just made my mother's birthday pie, and it seems like it will be delicious. I am wondering how meringue got invented before there were electric mixers.
In other birthday news, I just got a thing from my cousin about her daughter's 2nd birthday next week. She says no presents. It's just family, so I am fairly certain that if I don't bring a present, I will be the only one who doesn't. What to do?? Maybe just one book.

Jesse, a my roommate and I in France made oeufs a la neige whipping with forks. We had to tag team and it was exhausting.
Jesse, how about a non-object gift like a donation or tickets to the zoo or something?
Zen, thanks! And I am happy that they also worked for your niece!
oeufs a la neige
One of my favorite desserts. And a big birthday dinner request in my family.

Yeah, I can't even imagine! Granted, I'm not in shape like an Olde Tymey cook, but my arm is tired from holding the mixer!

Oh! That reminds me of something I had thought of -- when I was a baby, people gave me savings bonds, which I cashed out when I graduated from college, and it was AWESOME. That could combine small money + no new stuff. Hmmm.
Edit: Turns out, they take three weeks to get, so maybe NSM.
That's a good idea, Jesse! I do understand the parents' concern -- sometimes the kids get overwhelmed, and sometimes it's also just too. much. stuff., you know? We had to tell the grandparents to limit Christmas and birthday gifts when Jake was young, because he was just getting inundated. It's all cute, and it's hard not to buy it, but the kids don't even wind up playing with half of it sometimes.
