I had great movers, they were recommended to me by friends who used them on their epic house move. (Epic mainly because my friend's DH is an absent-minded professor unable to do something as concrete as plan a move, or pack.) They were friendly enough, but when I mentioned that I knew A., I was their new best friend.

I tipped my movers $100 each. They were the cheap-ass movers, and their boss overscheduled them. Tey didn't get to me until 9 pm, and then they moved me from a 2nd floor with a really bad door, porch steps and a weird driveway to a second floor with steps up to the lawn, and three turns in the staircase on the hottest day of the year ever.
