My move was about $500, and I tipped ...a lot, I think. Maybe too much. But seriously the cheapest bid, they broke NOTHING, there was a moving truck snafu on the part of UHaul, and they fought that out and were still on time, had to carry down 3 flights, up my front steps, and then there was the heavy stuff to go on the second floor. And it was a freakish 95 in April (hrm, sounds familiar.) And it was pretty much done in some thing ridiculous, like 3 or 4 hours.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

We used strong-backed relatives to load a one-way truck and towed our car cross-country. And then we hired "a guy" and "a buddy of his" for $60 plus $25 tip for both (not each) to unload the heavy stuff off the truck. They were fast and super-careful, and put everything right where we said to.

The second load was H's van packed to the gills and a tow-along trailer, ditto, which we unloaded ourselves.

But there was the cost of gas and motels for seven-eight nights cross-country, both trips, offset by the overnight stays with kind Buffistas with parking space.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I'm still cranky about the movers my folks hired to move them to CA from FL; they packed really badly, so we ended up with a bunch of the 90-year-old china broken. They didn't re-install the mirrors above the dressers, so those are still propped against the wall. And my mother's convinced a bunch of her clothing got lost.

I am not looking forward to moving, but am looking forward to having moved; there is too much police activity on this street.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

We used movingscam.com to choose our movers, and they were fast and efficient.

Yay, dinner is first artichokes of the season. Cooked with java's lemons.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I hate movers. They stress me.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I hate movers. They stress me.

I hate movers. They broke a lot of my stuff. And charged more than they were supposed to.

But I love artichokes. So I am going to focus on potential future nummy vegetables and not past moving trauma.

Two reasons why they stress me.
