Would it be OK to contact the operations manager to just check in and make sure everything's OK? They want him to start ASAP and we're gearing up for that aggressive timing so it would be nice to touch base to ensure that things are ticking along at least.

Oh, hey. I got a new tattoo. It's a little bat. Very cute.
The Admin Assist we used to work with is going to try to visit her today and will get an address for me. L is going to be staying with her daughter, so none of us have a "current" address for her. Hopefully after the visit today, we will have a better idea of the best way to proceed.
SuziQ, I'm sure a card or flowers would be appreciated by her or at least her family. I was touched when people remembered my dad, even though I didn't know who many of them were. I think it helps people feel less alone.
Thanks Calli. I'm just awating an address.
And I got an e-mail from yesterday's date guy. "No sparkage". I was torn after our meeting. We have a bunch of cool common interests but he seems like he is still caught in the web of the relationship he just got out of. Ah well.
Picture, Allyson? Also, it sounds very cute.
Suzi, flowers sound lovely, as does a card, once you have the valid address for L. And I'm sorry to hear she's not well. Also? Better off without no sparkage guy.
Nora, I empathize but I have no good advice.
Sorry about your friend, and the date, Suzi.
Nora, just think, 3 months from now you will be settled in NO, and happy as clams.
Oh, hey. I got a new tattoo. It's a little bat. Very cute.

Now I get to talk to tech support about why my shiny new phone has stopped talking to the internet. Yippee.
You know what makes no sense? Emailing me in Boston to ask if I left something in my office in New York six months ago. You're right there! Just go see.
