For me, "Never Say Never" is inexorably linked to the Rocky Rococos I worked at in Madison in 1985, as that song was hugely popular with the employees. Also "Add It Up" by the Violent Femmes, with the also immortal line, "Why can't I get just one fuck?" Whenever we played that song at the restaurant (which was all the time), all us employees cleared our throats loudly during the naughty words....

That song was from my brief Yaz, Human League, Depeche Mode period. Which my ex-boyfriend hated -- he worshipped at the altar of The Who and thought I had lost my mind.
I still like a bunch of Yaz songs, though. Alison Moyet has an awesome voice.
Beth, I am in the middle of cleaning out my garage and have a cage you guys can have. It was originally for Cayenne, so it's not cat-sized. But your new cat would find it a well spaced condo, I think. Let me know, because I've got it out to deliver to Goodwill.
Every comic is funnier with "Christ, what an asshole" for a punchline
Well, the Family Circus example they show is certainly funnier....
Uh oh folks, you're pushing me down memory lane with the music.
Romeo Void also famous for the story that the size of their singer led to their downfall -- either the label pushed her to lose weight or for her to get fired or something, all deriving from the image focus of MTV.
That might work , jave chick --it is the kind of thing I was thinking about
Rocky Rococo's--there's a blast from the past!

I saw the Violent Femmes at Milwaukee's Summerfest back in 1986 on a triple bill with some now-nameless local band and the Bodeans, back when they were still Da Bodeans. Everyone in the crowd was chanting that line when they performed "Add It Up."

Beth, d'oh, I can't keep track of threads. Just saw your post. So should I keep it for you? It's in the car to donate but I can go remove it.
Ooh, what an awesome time to catch up with the thread! I know the drummer from Romeo Void. He's awesome and D. insulted his kit once in the greenroom. "Whose ugly yellow kit is that?" "You mean, whose beautiful yellow kit is that!"
