Natter 65: Speed Limit Enforced by Aircraft
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, pandas, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I liked Lars and the Real Girl. Maybe because most of the people I've known who suffered a psychotic break became violent or suicidal. A break that lets the guy fall in love seems benign in comparison.
Off to wine and snacks down the street...
Jessica, even if you tell them you drive that little, there's no discount? It's still THAT much to insure?? Geez! That's more than living in a bad neighborhood in DC, commuting each way!!
Am impressed with the ginormo looking pictures of msbelle's apartment.
I slept in a bit, then ran down to the Glee Flash Mob meet up. There were supposed to be three "performances", but I only went to the first one. It was fun. Then wandered around downtown and the Hill a bit with a friend who is in town from Wyoming, and just got back home. Need to go buy more boxes at Home Depot, and then PACK THEM UP. ACK.
Songkran was kind of a bust: long lines for food tickets, food, and mango sticky rice. So we turned around, went to our favorite Thai place (where we were asked why we weren't at Songkran), and had delicious food, seated, and mango sticky rice! So good.
Kathy, I guess it's 'congrats' because you're moving on to more school and career-related stuff. I bet the bookstore will miss you!
Oh! And the other thing--Slate JUST had a story by this woman who is the wife of the Polish...Foriegn Minister? I think?...about how he was going to run for president, but then didn't get the nomination or something, and how it was weird being a candidate's wife (she's an American journalist, originally). And now I'm like "Whoah, she's gotta be feeling extra weird about that one, since the president is DEAD".
Sailing is fun!
It was freakishly warm (for early April) with wind that was gusty, which made the sailing more challenging for us novices (there were four of us in a 21 foot boat, plus the instructor). The instructor assured us the boat was impossible to tip over, even with it heeled over almost on its side, which probably prevented us from panicking when the boat went over on its side. But he taught us to ease up on the mainsail when we saw a gust coming.
With all the wind, we did get wet, so I was glad I was wearing a waterproof windbreaker and had my cell in a ziplock bag.
Weirdly enough, I got seasick after I got off the boat. I probably shouldn't had that coffee for breakfast.
Yeah, I can't imagine how game-changing mind-fuckery this whole thing is. Man. This is why in corporate america you don't put your entire leadership team on the same flight. Not that anyone expects it to actually happen. But whoa.
The President is a ceremonial position, though. The PM is in power.
