What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Polish president killed in plane crash.

This is nuts. I know nothing at all about Polish government, but holy crap.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I understand it's not just their president, but also the head of the national bank, and a bunch of their top military brass, too. The kind of huge disaster that will have the conspiracy theorists going nuts on for years.

Oh yeah, it's a shitload of governmental people. This shit is not supposed to happen. Someone right now is making sure that Air Force One is in super tip-top condition.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The news was super depressing this morning.

Not only the Polish crash, but the Yemeni child bride death and Timothy White (kidnap victim as a child) dying of pulmonary embolism at age 35. (He was the other kid rescued by Steven Stayner. The story is best known from the TV movie "I Know My Name Is Steven.")

The Polish tragedy is especially painful as they were on their way to a ceremony commemorating the Katyn massacre, a Stalinist summary execution of 20,000 Polish prisoners of war (most of their top military, but also intellectuals, doctors, lawyers, etc.).

And our car has just decided to, apparently, die. (Michael is describing it as a catastrophic motor failure.) This on a day when we are removing moldy drywall from the ceiling of our bathroom, following the plumbing bursting incident of LAST weekend.

I suspect our car has been secretly talking to Hec and JZs car.

I knew it was a mistake to start making talking cars.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Ah, shit, flea, I'm sorry. Buffista cars need to cease all communications immediately.

Terrible news about Poland. And I can't imagine how the former head of their lower house of Parliament is coping with it -- a few hours ago he was a moderately important person with his plate full of intra-house domestic battles and politicking, and suddenly not only is the entire country reeling in the wake of a hideous tragedy but he's in charge of all of it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Your place looks great, msbelle.

flea, aargh. I live in terror of when my car decides "enough!" But she's been pretty good recently.

I am stuck on this site. I love their necklaces the most.

I think the Prime Minister didn't die.

We keep having these catastrophes that are not too bad. Like, our car may have died, but it died in our driveway on a weekend, giving us a good lag time to figure out some temporary transport before everyone has to go to work/school on Monday. A pipe bursts in the ceiling, but I hear it go and we get the water shut off in 15 minutes. My kid breaks her thumb, but it's a little break and healing nicely and she's not in pain.

In some ways I feel lucky, but... could also use a break.

Prime Minister wasn't on the plane, yeah.

I'm sorry about your car, flea, but I'm glad it died conveniently.
