Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

if you read the article it really paints people with a nasty brush.

Yeah, that.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Neighbohood bars aren't always ok either. I am thinking specifically about a friend who worked at Sherlock's who had her table ask her what time she got off after leaving her a really good tip.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

But no place with people is always OK.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Well no. But I do think female bar and club workers are-more than outside of it-treated like whores.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

But no place with people is always OK.

People! Hmmph.

I'm sure that's true. I'm just saying -- plenty of people I know have been sexually assaulted as bar patrons.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I think this falls more under the People Are Creepy than anything else. And that some of those Creepy People are men who will hit on anything and anyplace, oblivious to the fact that associating it with a transactional experience is uncool.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, but those people are encouraged by places like that and articles like this to transfer those expectations to anywhere a woman is serving them alcohol. Not like you wouldn't get assholes to begin with. But they don't need validation.

“Not dead yet!”

People Suck. I don't much like people.

This. Speaking of People Suck, did we hear about the "fake prom" the nice people of Mississippi sent that sweet lesbian girl and her girlfriend to last week?

[link]

And another article, claiming there are Facebook pictures of the "real" prom.

[link]

if it wasn't fake, it was the worst attended prom since the year after Carrie White totally PMSed all over everyone. Basically the school district canceled the prom when everyone got upset about a gay person being gay at it, but then a little bit later — after much international scrutiny and ACLU lawsuit stuff — the school district's attorney announced that a parent-sponsored prom was being held and invited McMillen. Constance, her girlfriend, and seven other kids were the only ones to show up to the event.

The real trouble is that there's rumored to have been another prom held that night at a different location, one that, word has it, the parents were fully aware of, and the school district helped plan.

Seriously-- I hope a plague of frogs comes and pees on these people's heads.
