I need shoes that resist water.
So great to see you happy, Allyson!
And I want a playground like that one--freakin' awesome!
When I went to Cleveland in May, I requested that we have Polish food one night, because there are no good Polish restaurants (actually, no Polish restaurants, period) in Cincinnati. It was SO GOOD.
Come back to Chicago, Steph! We'll take you to some great Polish places out here. There's a little hole-in-the-wall place (with terrific potato pancakes and kompot juice) called Podhalanka that is not fancy, but filling. We could also do fancy Polish, if you'd like.
I got up early to do my laundry and then headed over to the bookstore for my 11:00 shift. When I walked in, the manager was coming out from behind the register and I greeted her. She was giving me a slightly-stunned/confused look and then said, "Didn't Suzanne [the scheduling manager] call you last night?" Turns out, she had, but they have my work number as my contact, so when she called after 6:00 last night, I didn't get it. They had to cut back hours this week, so another woman and I both got our Saturday hours chopped. The last time I worked there was Dec. 26th. Here's hoping that I can actually work next week.
I left the bookstore and headed over to LensCrafters to order some glasses. In the past, I've gotten glasses from the optometrist, but I didn't care for the frame selection at their office. Found some nice frames for both regular and prescription sunglasses at LC, but then got hosed on the lenses. Turns out that my level of astigmatism means I'd have to get regular plastic lenses instead of the featherweight ones I've always gotten from the doctor's office.
I ended up buying the frames at LC, took them over to the doctor's office down the road, but missed the woman who places the orders for glasses since she left at noon. The receptionist called their other office and spoke to her mom who worked there, and found out that my lenses were some really specialty polycarbonate that LC doesn't carry. So, sometime next week, I'll pop into the office and order the lenses for both pairs of glasses. I hope the sunglasses won't cost too much (the regular glasses will be covered by insurance, at least).
Yeah, my astigmatism means I need the polycarb too. It`s a hassle but I`m impressed with the fact that it`s possible at all.
Dana, you're morning blows. I really hope your day has gotten better!
Allyson: Yay!!! So glad you are happy.
Dana, I guess this means I should run a bunch of errands today, since all the bad travel karma seems to have followed you?
Actually this looks a little like you.
Huh. I kind of like that. Right now, it's long enough that it's getting in my face, but not long enough for more than a stubby ponytail.
Hey Liese, have you been getting the emails about the polish exchange? I am sending them from my main account, which is new to you, so I wanted to make sure there wasn't a spam filter issue.
Just, happy.
Excellent news to read on a Saturday almost still morning. Thrilled by a happy Allyson.
I don't need new shoes, but I have some gift cards, and I'm taking a shine to these: [link]
Yeah, Perkins. I got them, but wasn`t able to get to the list so I figured I`d just wait for the round robin. I should have said so but I`m spacey these days. You still have my address(es)?
I so didn`t get all that stuff done. I`m just getting done cleaning the car now. I`ll head into town; I can at least gas up and hit the library & PO on my way to church. And if by some miracle I`m early, I`ll get non perishables at the smaller market. Otherwise tomorrow.
Things I found cleaning out the van: native flute, three drum keys, jaw harp, bag of picks, approximately a million rechargeable batteries, two calculators and a calcified bottle of Pepto. I think that about sums up my life right there.
