Over Passover, I was talking to my mom about what kids eat, and she was really surprised that a lot of foods that were reserved for special treats at our house were eaten pretty regularly at my friends' houses. And now I'm wondering whether I was the weird one or if my friends were. So: chocolate milk, white bread, dessert after dinner, soda. Everyday food or treat food when you were a kid?

Of your list, we had soda regularly. My best friend always had ice cream, but no soda, so we were both excited to go to the other's house.

Chocolate milk, white bread, regularly. Dessert, depends on what you consider dessert. We always had Oreos or Chips Ahoy around, so a couple of cookies after dinner was fairly common. Soda was definitely a treat thing, to the point where I would severely overindulge when given the opportunity and make myself sick.

I can't remember ever having actual ice cream at home. If we did have something similar, it was either ice milk or Tofutti.

We didn't have much that was processed, but my Dad really drank a lot of soda (that he bought by the case through his job), so we were allowed one can of soda a week.
The French aren't big on desserts so I don't think we had that normally, but we did have ice cream around.
Summers in Vermont had different rules. Spaghetti sauce from a jar! Root beer floats! Pringles!
