I (perhaps mistakenly) assumed it was similar to Good Reads, which I keep light tabs on and which I find frustrating, since it seems to operate on the same half-witted rating system as Amazon, where people often don't even read the book and give it a poor rating based on something other than the actual text.

Huh. My frustration is quite the opposite--people who seem to give everything 5 stars. So not helpful.
