Timelies all!
Urgh. I woke up a bunch of times last night. (The power went out on our street about 9:45 last night, and came back on around 1 am. That was one. Other times involve the cat)
Passover starts tonight, and we are going to G's mom's house for seder.
Who wants to get their geek on?
Here's a fascinating article about the distinction between Babbage's Difference Engine and his Analytical Engine and why the Analytical was the revolution that didn't happen.
Though the most interesting part to me was the whole universe evoked of Mathematical Committees in charge of creating vast mathematical tables.
In the least surprising coming out since Ellen, or maybe Rosie, Ricky Martin has come out: [link]
I really thought he had done that already.

It's a surprise to me. Not that he's gay, of course, but I figured he'd go to his grave like Liberace, with everyone knowing but no actual public acknowledgment.
Today just got better. I just got a package of free clothes from Lip Service! mmmm, new black and pink striped clothing.
Hey Jesse, one of the judges was Mary (?) from Ace of Cakes.
It was Mary Smith actually. Man there were some GREAT cookies up in that mix.
My work pet peeve is people telling me today who I should get to answer a question that I submitted in a document almost 2 months ago when the document needs to be delivered today by COB. And emailing that person and getting no response. Whatever.
Documents are where they need to be and I'm drinking a beer!
It was Mary Smith actually.
Also awesome!
I am so crazy. Somehow I'm on a mailing list for medical/health studies, and I just got one about an eating study that I would TOTALLY DO if I hadn't already paid for the CSA for the summer. You get paid $1900! And they tell you what to eat for like 5 months, but hey, I could use some new ideas.
Dag, the notes for each Babbage and Lovelace comic are as funny as the comic. Not so much in the witty/funny way, as the "holy shit that visual joke was based on a real thing."
For example:
Did Charles Babbage actually design an error pop-up for the Analytical Engine that said ‘WRONG’? Come on I couldn’t make up something that funny in a MILLION YEARS!
As well as:
-The punchline to the cheese story is, in fact, a chart.
Both of which link to the source material.
Oh, snap. Gawker calls out the top ten people who need to come out of the closet: [link]
How the hell is Elton in the closet?
