Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And ESPECIALLY when the actual sentence is telling me that even though the original document said that letters could be submitted online, now they are saying that "letter's" must be received in Hard Copy [also sic] by 5pm tomorrow. Grrrr.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

My boss' pet peeve is when people show up for an interview with their FOUR CHILDREN. Two of whom are under 3.

Only Jack Bauer gets a pass on that, 'cause that dude seriously deserves a bathroom break.

For Jack Bauer, I would even give him a pass on using the women's bathroom.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ugh. So stressed.

Emmett's got a huge term-long project (called iSearch) due this week. It's like the 8th graders dissertation. And every time I asked him about it this weekend he fluffed me off. "I did all my home work."

"What about the iSearch?"
"I got an extension."
"?!"

So I talk about it with EM this morning and she's furious with me because he didn't get ten pages of it done this weekend. The whole thing needs to be in final form by Thursday and it's got to be about 40+ pages long.

Emmett's got maybe 12 pages done and they're not all typed up and finished.

EM's extra pissed because she's getting surgery this weekend to fuse two of her vertabrae, she's been in a lot of pain and can't really deal with this.

So, I fucked up by thinking we had another week to do this. But it's been an extremely screwed up couple of weeks for me with the car getting the boot, and job-hunting and meeting writing deadlines, and preparing for the Tom Waits bus tour this weekend, and Emmett's baseball/krav/tutoring schedule. It's just been a fucked up whirl of things that require immediate attention.

So. Emmett won't even be going to school tomorrow. He's staying home with me and working on it all day. He's missing a baseball game on Tuesday night too.

Basically I will be spending the week working with him on this paper, typing it up and keeping him on task.

Our wings are not tired.

You guys, I HATE it when anyone tries to talk to me when I am in a stall. I do not want to have a conversation over the sound of biological functions. LEAVE ME ALONE. Thankfully I've only had to really say "can we talk about this later, when we're not in the bathroom?" a couple of times.

Pet peeve at work? People who refuse to do their job. Full stop. And they don't get fired.

The "Language" selection from the "Tools" menu in Word is missing. Seriously. It was there last week, and now it's not. I can provide a screenshot.

At the moment, the fact that I have to go back to it tomorrow if I want them to keep paying me. Seriously, I have gotten so much done over this 4-day weekend. But not getting paychecks would interfere with my future plans, so back I go.

My thinking is that this needs to ruin Emmett's good times a bit longer than just missing one baseball game? Otherwise you're maybe setting him up for a bit of "my lack of planning becomes your emergency and it's fine."
