Theresa, that's hilarious. The first place I saw that meme was on my high school chem teacher's status. Let 'em wrap their heads around that.
Had a whole lane all to myself for the entire mile and a half and cooldown. I love that.
I have four ear piercings. Two are little silver beaded hoops I basically never take out until made to (had to once for xrays or something.) If I'm leaving the house for anyplace other than the pool, I am wearing a second pair as well. Otherwise it's like forgot to put my bra on or something.
I got home from a long day at work firing people to find that my most excellent of husbands had gone grocery shopping and done all the laundry. Bliss.
That was sweet.
I'm cracking up over the school lunches thing. I pretty much had to bring my lunch, and oh how I lusted after the school lunch. And the thing was? It was crappy and gross. In high school, the main thing students ate were milkshakes, fries with "nacho" cheese sauce and burritos from the taco trucks that'd show up in the parking lot. If it wasn't Little Caesar's Pizza from some fundraiser. Grosses me out now (once I started driving, we either went to a friend's house or to Whataburger. I loved their grilled chicken sandwich.)
well tonight has been a failure to get house stuff done. had a call, then got sidetracked and there is no basement access after 8pm. So, instead, I am packing and have started the GREAT FOOD CLEAN OUT pre-travel ritual.
Tonight I used up 2 avocados, 1 container of leftovers, 3 items from the freezer for mac.
This clean out is also part of my larger focus to use up as much pantry food as possible in the next 3 months. We have recently made a pitcher of iced tea, a pitcher of fruit punch from a concentrate can, polished off a couple bags of chips, and used up the last of a bag of pasta.
Tomorrow I will take fruit with us for snacks throughout the day as well as some ziplock bags of chips and nilla wafers.
I'll pack more snacks like that for the plane ride and hopefully that will empty out a few things from the pantry.
DInner tomorrow will be whatever I can scrounge from the fridge, and I may actually cook some muffins tonight for breakfast the next 2 days.
What I really need to get focused on is making beans at least once a week once we get back from vacation. I have dried beans like woah.
You can always offer a full larder as a part of any settlement! Hee!
That is an excellent husband, Scrappy! And now at least your day is over, right?

If they're super old, forget about it -- they'll never get soft.
I'm watching the Criminal Minds pilot. Good times.
right? I am already trying to unload mac's bed frame, wardrobe, and several of the area rugs on whomever ends up buying. For $10 I'll throw in all the food in the pantry.
Actually any canned goods left will go to our church for their on-going food drive, but trying to use as much up as possible and not buy more than necessary is a fun challenge and will save some $$.
Ha! Jamie Oliver is trying an experiment. He took a raw chicken, showed them where the different cuts of meat were, and then asked showed them the carcass that was left. He got them to agree that this was something that should be thrown away. Then he put it into a food processor with the skin and ground it and then strained out the bony bits. Showed it to the kids, go the predictable "Ewww" reaction. Then he added some stabilizers and flavorings, cut it into nugget shapes, and breaded and fried them. Asked the kids who would still eat this, and every hand went up. He says that whenever he tried this in the UK, every kid refused to touch the nuggets.
Yes, my day is over. I hope I never ever have to do that again. All the laid-off folks were incredibly understanding and gracious. And losing 5 out of 82 is going to put us comfortably in the black, so all the other employees will have secure jobs, which is the whole point, of course. The only downside is that we asked for volunteers and the one person we all wanted to leave, didn't.

Ouch. Did you can that person anyway?
