I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Disclaimer: I apparently do have a facebook account but I don't use it, and apparently don't know how, either!

I'm seeing names popping up in my gmail twice over, so apologies to all you Buffistas if I'm spamming you.

QQ: afternoon tea. Gender-biased?

And what's a really really inexpensive menu? I've got several packets of lavender that I'm going to boil into some lemonade (it's in early April). Tea packets, are they tacky? Loose-leaf, is it too much trouble? And then I'd have to scrounge up tea pots and extra strainer dohickeys. Are just mini-scones enough? I make killer cucumber sammiches, but whenever I make them I don't want to share...

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Oh dear - I've mentioned my Larouchie aunt & uncle in here before, yes? Behold my uncle, handing out Impeach Obama signs at a Tea Party rally. Complete with Hitler mustache, because, really, nothing says "My cult is more important to me than my Jewish heritage" like the President in a Hitler mustache.

(In case the link doesn't work, he's the guy front & center in #16.)

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Spending this much on nail polish is a tad frivolous, but I feel okay about it given that it's making me very happy.

You know, it's cheaper than therapy.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Yikes, Jess!

My Dell laptop is dead. The second hard drive is fried. I have a column due tonight so I'm trying to pull something out of my ass using DH's laptop.

I need recs on laptops--NOT Dell and NOT HP.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Who here shared the information that Soap is on Netflix instant view? I have mainlined all 4 seasons. I had forgotten how it "ended". Gah.

To return the favor(?), 21 Jump Street is also on instant view.

Because books.

God, I haven't seen Soap since ... first run. When I wasn't really allowed to watch it.

megan, that blows. I'm sorry.

Cash, I just bought an Asus, and it came highly recommended from several sources. So far, I love it.

Now tagless for your comfort.

That's what I'm leaning towards, Amy. Did you get a netbook?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

"Yes, I'm unhappy, because I work with crazy people. If I enjoyed working with crazy people, I wouldn't be looking to work with your group, because you're not crazy. Although this Catch-22 you've set up is making me reconsider that assessment."

Oh yeah. A former coworker once hired me to work under her at a different job. She told them I was quiet. Sure, I was quiet at Old Job, because I fucking hated it there! I wasn't friends with any of my coworkers and my boss was a crazy person! That is when I made friends with all of you people....

Because books.

Nope, Cash, a 16" laptop. It's my main machine, so I didn't want a netbook.

The touchpad was a learning curve for someone used to the Thinkpad's little red nipple, but I got the hang of it pretty quick. It's got loads and loads of memory, too.

OMGcommunitymeetingcrazy. People I am glad I am not: city contractor rep for the wastewater project that just got sprung on the neighborhood (gee, sound familiar?) that involves a lot of demolition right next to a high school and who could not commit to not using one particular street for truck traffic. For a project that end to end is 4 year. Whee.

We had 2 lt. cols., our district commander person and our 2 plainsclothes neighborhood cops, who got loved on a lot, and invited themselves to several citizen foot patrol meetings coming up. Of course, we had Mary Pat, council rep and I was able to introduce myself and get a pile of fliers to raise funds for our local firehouse to hang at work.

Plus a free cloth 2010 Census bag.

I've got to say, Mary Pat is a total steamroller for her citizenry. City contractor dude was distinctly unhappy.
