Could just be a hoax, though. I fake some headaches, everyone gets used to poor helpless Spike. Then one day, no warning, I snap a spine, bend a head back, drain 'em dry. Brilliant.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Looks like Izzy may not be back on Gray's Anatomy: [link]

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm very happy about that, Jesse.

The ER keeps telling me I've had near death experiences. Whatever.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, man.

I just got up to the bit in Bureaucracy in February of 2003, just before the start of the war. Fuck. It's coming up on seven years March 20th. I used to protest annually on that date. Jaded.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Makes squinty eyes in ita's direction, just on general principle.

I DON'T REMEMBER STOPPING BREATHING. So it doesn't count.

Boss has told me I can go home if I feel I will be more effective working from there. If I can work out how to do my afternoon meetings remotely, I just might. Still feel like ass.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I DON'T REMEMBER STOPPING BREATHING.

Huh. What did they do to get you breathing again?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Probably the closest I've ever been to a near-death experience (though not the closest I've ever been to dying) was being on ketamine during my c-section. I had the whole bright light/ out of body thing going on. It was unpleasant.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

From Jesse's link, the last story has an FNL actor ( Adrianne Palicki ) in a Fox pilot. Hrmph. I haven't seen the new season yet, but that is not happy-making news for me. And the pilot doesn't sound that great, either.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Excellent news, for Chicago Bob, lisah. The early detection is huge.

Near death: not so many, though I did spin out on the freeway at 80 mph. I was going too fast (obviously) and trying to get around a semi, which blocked my view of the car also trying to get around the semi and going much slower than me as it came from the entrance ramp.

So I suddenly had a car in front of me and I hit the brakes and my car went skidding across two lines (in front of the semi, no less) and wound up in the breakdown lane, facing the wrong direction. Nobody hit me, which is just...unlikely. I'm surprised the car didn't roll.

I remember my legs were shaking so badly that I could barely work the accelerator to try and turn it around and get back to work.

It happened in Sacramento and when I go on that freeway on our way to Reno or Lake Tahoe I always have a bit of a flashback.

Also, when I was in Junior High I was riding my bike to school and got caught in a massive downpour so I was riding as fast as I could, and recklessly. It was still dark out and I cut across a lane and the only reason I wasn't plastered was because the woman in the oncoming car had quick reflexes. I still remember the look of shock on her face.

I saw a kid on a bike get hit by a car once and though the car wasn't going fast he flew about twenty feet in the air. Shocking how much force is involved.

Yeah, I saw a kid on a bike do something stupid and get hit by a car. He flew about ten feet, but appeared uninjured. Hope he learned a lesson....
