Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My sister has been sending me Haiti stuff from the Caribbean perspective, including official responses from the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency. Just that makes me tear up. I don't know if I have it in me to read any actual news just yet.

Trust my rage

The NYT has this picture on their front page of a pile of bodies, including little children. I know it's news and feel sort of obligated to process it, but I really wish I hadn't seen those images. Or that there had been some warning or something.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I watched some news last night and I had to turn it off. It is too much.

Separately - a while back there was a brief discussion of crock pots and I finally bought a 1.5 qt baby crock pot. I started a pot roast this morning and MAN the house smells fantastic. I can't wait to NOM!!! Megan - thanks for the recipe!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

My daily sinus headaches seem to have come back.

I really didn't miss them very much.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

At long last, the dessert-y answer to the turducken:

The Cherpumple

The anatomy:
Bottom: Pumpkin pie inside a spice cake
Middle: Apple pie inside a yellow cake
Top: Cherry pie inside a white cake, all surrounded by cream cheese frosting

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

The NYT has this picture on their front page of a pile of bodies, including little children. I know it's news and feel sort of obligated to process it, but I really wish I hadn't seen those images. Or that there had been some warning or something.

cnn.com has on a similar picture on the front page of their website, and it is a lot to take in when you aren't expecting to see something so horrible.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I got the fixings for chili that I'm going to make on Saturday. I figure I'll put it in the crock pot before heading over to the bookstore for the afternoon, and it should be done by the time I get back five hours later.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The Cherpumple

Wow, that sounds disgusting. I've never had turducken, though. Is it disgusting? It sounds potentially awesome.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think it looks disgusting, but sounds awesome.
