I considered it, but the cost of equipment was prohibitive. Cellular modem was roughly equivalent but with the bonus of being able to use en route.

My parents do sattelite. It's not as expensive as it was five years ago but it's not cheap. Also, their upload rate isn't fast enough to support video conferencing.

Huh. Susan Atkins gave a heartfelt response but I notice she left out the part where murdering people landed her in prison. If you didn't know she was a murderer, you'd have thought she landed in jail 'cause she didn't finish school!
The only thing better would have been that an actual kid wrote the letters, and not a bored screenwriter.
