Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

My favorite current headline (on the NYT website about former rep Massa):

Congressman Admits Tickle Fight, Nothing More

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I got to tell the two developers in the meeting today that they were engaging in a "geek spiral." I felt all Eliot for a second. Leverage jokes, party of one...

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Interesting graphic, showing the US nutritional recommendations compared to subsidies. [link] (Basically, recommendations are to eat mostly grains, fruits, and vegetables. Subsidies go almost entirely to meat and dairy, some to grains, and almost nothing to fruits and vegetables.) There's also a chart showing how prices of different foods have changed since 1978 -- soda and meat have consistently gone down, fresh produce has consistently gone up.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

AH! I caught the honeymilk reference when it happened, but I forgot.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Congrats Connie!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Busted again for doodling during meetings. But I have an awful "Carry On My Wayward Son" earworm, and I thought drawing Winchesters would at least get the stupid look off my face.

If it helps, I am drinking a beer and, well, reading buffistas on my current conference call. Go team WFH!

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Congressman Admits Tickle Fight, Nothing More

So he's trying to put the kibosh on those "Ticklepocalypse" rumours?

Because books.

This amateur video take on Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" filled me with all kinds of happy.

brillig

re: changing prices of produce--I wonder how much of that is tied to people plowing under fields and orchards to put up crappy subdivisions? There are a depressing number of McMansion settlements around here with the unironic name of Orchard Acres or Applewood Estates or such to memorialize what the land used to be used for.
