Youngest nephew gets tubes in his ears tomorrow.
And a year ago and a day, I saw this house for the first time. That afternoon, I wrote my mom this email:
I LOVE the layout/style. The floors have inlay, the rooms are huge-dining room is the size of my LR. In addition to a rear deck off the kitchen, there is a teeny rooftop balcony (it's really just roof of the kitchen bumpout, but the sides are raised hip high) off one of the back second floor bedrooms. Door (and maybe jamb) to that needs replacing and needs weathersealing. ... The kitchen also has less cabinetry than the one with the pictures, but it is a pretty open space, if small, so Things Could Be Done, some expensive or just furniture. ...I'd like to see a few more maybes. It's a really charming house though. Double french doors with screens (which need the screen replaced, they had a few tears...hey, I remember how to do that!) lead to the square front porch, which is covered and had a painted beadboard ceiling (I'd so want to strip that.) This is a really nice street and the houses are all pretty much the same, and people definitely keep them up. Seeing bikes out on the porches gave me a good feeling. .... I know a lot of the things that will make me swear, and yet.... Every time I think about what if it got taken off the market/scooped, I feel a sinking feeling.
Pretty much destined, wasn't it?
