I don't know if she's got much leverage there, Sophia. Probably depends on state law but any employer can ask for whatever background check they deem they need to meet minimum standards of accountability.
I don't know why she's feeling so hinky about them having the file "forever." It just means it's in a file somewhere. Is she just worried about identity theft with her SS# or something?
ION, the heavy rain here turned into heavy hail and has now returned to rain. I am disinclined to leave.
oh my, did people see hilary swank? [link]
oh my, did people see hilary swank?
That takes a LOT of double-sided tape.
Wow, msbelle! Swank looks good in that dress from the straight front, but the close-ups from the side show that side booby was looking kind of weird. Still, though, what a body!
Is she just worried about identity theft with her SS# or something?
Yes. She would be OK if they destroyed her information after the check.
Her issue is that they aren't her employer. They are an outside agency that she is supervising a group of students at the behest of her employer.
I on't know I would just do it if I were her, but it is making her crazy.

Ha! Blogged about how scary she looked. Seriously, back plunge or front, pick one and go with it.
I should add that her name is VERY common, and she has been the victim of identity theft several times.
Ah, that makes it make more sense.
Sophia,
I think your friend needs to sit down with the responsible person at the site and tell them her concerns (esp. about the identity theft issue). Then, she needs to put a fraud alert on all of her accounts (she only needs to contact experian, equifax, or transunion - one should notify others) and ask that the alert be good for as long as possible. I think 30 days is the default, but she can renew if necessary. If she has already been a victim, it shouldn't be that difficult to put this into effect.
They will try to sell her crap, but the alert should be free. She also should pull all of her credit reports on a regular basis. Each of the three allow one report a year, so I pull one from each of the agencies every 4 months so I have my own monitoring in effect.
The AIFG concept is discussed on tonight's House!
