Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

surely you weren't the top poster in it?

Not even close. Still, top 30. But I was reading the discussion of it thinking "Ah, this will never pass." And then it does, and I take part? Whuhuh? It's like a void in my head.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

The statement, IMO, implies that he personally disagrees with the way he voted on gay rights. It would be cowardly to campaign on what you feel is wrong just to get elected.

Oh yeah, agree totally. I just wasn't sure if you were at him for not being upfront with bigots that, you know, I'm one of those people you despise v. what you say above.

Which I don't buy in the first place (his lack of personal homophobia), but that's another matter. Interesting that he's claiming to be as craven as George Wallace as if it's somehow supposed to be a good thing. These people are fucked up.

Has Heroes been officially canceled yet? 'Cause I'm itching to propose some more thread closings.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Still on the bubble, I'm afraid. Ausiello says it could go either way.

You know what though, no. If he thought the voters wanted to have racist home covenants, would he have voted for that, knowing it's wrong? Would he be willing to say that he would stand behind the voters in that case?

But it's different if he campaigned on the issue. If the guy was elected saying he'd vote for a reprehensible position, can you complain that he voted for the reprehensible position even though he personally disagrees? I mean beyond the fact that the he supports the reprehensible position at all? Yeah, I suppose you could, good point.

But do you want politicians who flip on issues they campaigned on?

That wasn't what I was thinking, but yeah, that's a good point too.

I t heart Tom Scola.

Also, the whole thing about do you do what you think is morally right vs. what you have been elected to do is an old conflict that got the better of people like Jeannette Rankin and Robert Taft. It's an interesting debate.

But I think the man is a tool because who you are is who you are and to be closeted because it will get you elected seems as duplicitous as being gay and voting against Each Piece of Gay Legislation.

Also, it just sounds like he's a selfhating prick.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Someone on my facebook is burbleing about Rahm Immanuel poking our local representative in the ribs in the shower? Has anyone heard about this?

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Someone on my facebook is burbleing about Rahm Immanuel poking our local representative in the ribs in the shower?

Was it a fun shower? Or did your rep piss Rahm off?

Watched "Doomed" in class on Friday and finished it up today. Now my students are talking about wanting to have an after school Buffy club so they can see all the episodes. I love my job.

The whole Massa thing is confusing, Sophia. It sounds like your Facebook friend is conflating several different stories about him.
