Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Because books.

Poor Bigelow, though. She looked absolutely stunned, and she didn't even have time to catch her breath in between.

Steve Martin would NOT let go of the statuette. What was that about?

I don't think he's ever won one.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

My (predictable) reaction: Whoo, the director of Near Dark won an Oscar! Yeah!

Pete's reaction: Strange Days will finally be released on Blu-Ray now! Yeah!

Because books.

I thought The Hurt Locker was excellent, but it played like a character study to me. Which wasn't what I expected.

I think Inglourious Basterds should have won, but.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

The only movies I saw that were nominated for ANYTHING? Julie and Julia, Up, Sherlock Holmes, and Star Trek.

In fact, those are the only movies I've seen all year. Though I have a screener of It's Complicated sitting here that I should watch.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The only movies I can remember seeing this year were Up in the Air and Harry Potter. I'm sure I must have seen something else, though. Just can't remember what.
