When we landed here you said you needed a few days to get space worthy again and is there somethin' wrong with your bunk?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The song in question is "My Funny Valentine."

Oooh, another choice bit from Clay Shirky:

We had every bit of technology we needed to do weblogs the day Mosaic launched the first forms-capable browser. Every single piece of it was right there. Instead, we got Geocities. Why did we get Geocities and not weblogs? We didn't know what we were doing.

One was a bad idea, the other turns out to be a really good idea. It took a long time to figure out that people talking to one another, instead of simply uploading badly-scanned photos of their cats, would be a useful pattern.

Our wings are not tired.

I browsed through some of the bureau threads but so much was referring to things going on in other threads that it was very confusing. Seems like all y'all have really mellowed. But I think you've been allowed to mellow, for all of the reasons Hec and that article discuss. I guess we are always better with a bit of structure, and confidence that asses can generally (and formally) be shown the door.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Huh. I'm taller than Lorenz Hart.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Thanks ita. My memory was just that he instigated a group huff-off. I repressed all the acrimony.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Btw, Ple, you were #14 in the Go14.

I just found that post. (I was #9.)

eta: Burrell you were 16.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Where is the post?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Heh. I do like this post of mine (which turned out to be prescient too).

Man, I was democratic:

Again, my biggest impulse is to try things out and see what works. I am less interested now in my own opinion, and much more interested in what the vote will tell us about the community's opinion. That's what I want. Not my way, but the way that works for the most people.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Btw, Ple, you were #14 in the Go14.

Not exactly, Ple had been going off a former count provided by DX. I suspect it didn't cover exactly the same range of posts that John H's count did. Oh, and I'd be pretty tickled if it were posting about the Gang of 14 that promoted Ple into the Gang of 14.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I totally burned out once we got the voting structure in place. I'm hardly in Bureau 2.

Oh, and I'd be pretty tickled if it were posting about the Gang of 14 that promoted Ple into the Gang of 14.

I bet there's a word for that in Russian.
