What's the difference between a bar and a dive bar?

signed--someone who's never been to a club of any sort and has been in maybe two bars, the first one being while on a date with a preacher.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I've never really been to one, but the Goth clubs were pretty blended, and that's really all I've ever gone to.

A bar is where you order hoity-toity fancy-shmancy $10 cocktails, and a dive bar is where you drink $2 cans of PBR.

“Not dead yet!”

I learned how to shoot pool in a gay bar in SF with all the leather daddies acting as babysitters while my sister DJ'd. I was twelve.

Good times.

And as meara and I can attest, we are REAL!

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

So glad you asked! Here's an article on dive bars in Dallas that just happens to mention The Grapevine! [link]

Shit's all sorts of different now.

He went there for research. The guy riding with him in the car was also probably there for research.

I swear that said the guy riding him in the car.

I may be pre-verted.

“Not dead yet!”

Oh, and sign that my children are adapting to their new surroundings?

We saw a baby furry at Barnes and Noble the other day. (Teenager, street clothes w/tail and ears) and Abby did a minor double take, then shrugged and went on looking at the manga shelves.

Trust me when I say this is not something we would have ever encountered in Jacksonville.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

A bar is where you order hoity-toity fancy-shmancy $10 cocktails

::weeps:: I tried to order a fancy cocktail this weekend and nobody there knew what a Dark and Stormy was. So I paid high coin for a Ketel gimlet instead. I should know better than to ask Buffistas for drink suggestions. Arcane hipsters.

I haven't bought anything other than a vodka gimlet straight up in years.

A Dark & Stormy is no good unless the bar has real ginger beer.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Ginger beer, yum. I like it so bitey it makes my tongue hurt.
