Jesse, meet Steve at the Trident and sell him your extras. Hell, I'll pay you for 'em just so I can make sure he's eating something other than pretzels!
You should! You, and JZ and Hil and all our other vegetarians - come to Chicago and I'll take you there.
Be careful what you wish for!!
Matt, unless the meat has actually gone off, rinse it in white vinegar, rinse again in cold water, pat dry. Then slice it in about 1/4 inch strips and marinate in the fridge overnight in red wine with a dash of Worcestershire, steak sauce, anything you have on hand you think would go with red wine and beef. Heat a skillet or wok, add olive oil, chopped or minced garlic, sliced onion, grated or sliced ginger, and black pepper, stir until the onion is transparent. Add the beef strips, cook on high heat stirring constantly until all sides are brown. Reduce heat to low, add sliced mushrooms and enough of the marinade to cover. Put lid on pan and cook for 20 minutes while rice or potatoes are steaming. If you've steamed potatoes, mash them now. Remove lid from skillet, turn up heat and cook, stirring constantly, to reduce liquid, about four or five minutes. Serve over rice or potatoes.
The meat will be completely cooked and tenderized by the wine, the shrooms will absorb the wine and other flavors, and food poisoning will be negated.
Not...that I've left good meat in the fridge too long past its sell-by, or anything. Not I. Noooo.
sara, you're kinda beyond the crush phase. I think the neighborhood has crushed on you too and you're engaged.
Nah, I'm still too gee-whiz giddy and prone to italics.

That would be hilarious. I will definitely see if I can get him to pick up my share when I'm on vacation, though!

Good. You probably still have his email address from the cc'ings.
I think I'm going to mark your post for future consideration since it sounds yummy Beverly. But of the things you listed I only have rice, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce in the house, and the effort of stocking up is way more than this cut of meat is worth.
I wish the CSA'a in Rochester were able to be pPublic Market in the summers, but it to, is a bit of a hike. It is only about a ten minute walk, ut it is really not shaded, and not in an area where people walk a lot. It is in an area with a lot of litter of Ensure and used syringes. So when I go, with my little cart, I try to dress like a bag lady, and no one bothers me, but it is so hot!
We are thinking of doing a csa this summer, splitting with a friend. Hope we can still get in on it.
I just spent the last hour and a half cleaning paint drops and splatters and swipes from the recent and long past paint jobs off of kitchen countertops and plus and also starting to clean off the brass door fixtures in the front hall. Really probably not the best use of my time, oh well. maybe I should shower and go to bed.
lisah, the one I was talking about is [link] They've got Woodberry pickups, as well as my FM, but also full shares at my workplace, which you could totally use me as a conduit.
