You know, I just... I woke up, and I looked in the mirror, and I thought, hey, what's with all the sin? I need to change. I'm... I'm dirty. I'm, I'm bad with the... sex and the envy and that, that loud music us kids listen to nowadays.

“Not dead yet!”

I missed the McKeever thing. What did he do?

He didn't do anything. He's a legally blind cross-country skier who legitimately made the Canadian Olympic team and was slated to compete in the 50km race today, making him the first individual to compete at both the Paralympics and the Olympics. However, in some of the lead-up races Canadian skiers performed well enough that the coach thought they might have a legit chance at a medal and took McKeever's slot away (one of four the Canadians had for the race) and gave it to another skier, the premise being that they were trying to field the best possible chances for gaining another medal.

Ultimately one Canadian skier finished fifth, the next closest Canadian in the race was 18th, then racers three and four wound up 32nd and 33rd.

Admittedly, I know nothing of the tactics of these types of races, but looking at those finishes, I can't imagine that it would have really hurt them to allow McKeever to race.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, I'm so full of barbecue and whatnot. The whatnot is mostly fried pickles, I'm pretty sure.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So, if a tree falls on a power line, does it make a weird-ass sound?

[link]

Yes. A sound like sentient balloons being tortured. I'm guessing the sap in the tree branch is turning to steam and escaping under pressure, causing the noise. When most of the sap is gone, the branch suddenly bursts into flame, which also looks cool....

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

who legitimately made the Canadian Olympic team

So he legitimately made the team and they replaced him with someone less good? I am confused. Or he was placed on the team for feel good reasons and then they changed the team when it seemed like they might medal/medal higher with a different skier?

Admittedly, I know nothing of the tactics of these types of races, but looking at those finishes, I can't imagine that it would have really hurt them to allow McKeever to race.

I think *my* confusion is whether McKeever legitimately making the team means he was the best/fastest.

hip deep in pie

He made the cross country team and was slated only to do the 50 KM. Other skiers did really well in other races...better than the country has done before...so TBTB decided to allow those who were doing well to race the 50 KM, bumping McKeever, who was heartbroken.

hip deep in pie

He made the team legitimately...only just. He was the last athlete named to the cross country team.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Sad about McKeever. Indifferent about hockey. I would have liked for the US to win, but I hear rumors it was a wonderful game.

Today was a DAY. We took the twins to the aquarium and Grace projectile vomited on me before we were there for 10 minutes. Grace's formula is particularly nasty. so I smelled like spitup and formula (yay). Then Noah missed the potty and peed on me and himself. Then Grace spit up again on Katie.

After getting ourselves sorted, we got to see people for a pedicure. Grace had a diaper failure and was sweaty baby.

Then when I went to suction her, the suction machine would not work. So I drove home, but forgot to buckle her into her carseat since I was distraught about the suction machine. I get the suction machine home and plug it in, but it still doesn't work. No. Good.

So we took her back to her place 2 hours early but neither Noah nor I had naps nor had we eaten and Grace needed to be suctioned.

Then we stopped at Daphnes and it was No good because it led to a Meltdown of Amazing Proprotions.

Now we are all home and I want to drug him and me and go to bed Right Now.

I vote for drugs.

I bought this today [link] to put up on the basement windows. I like the light, just don't like how anyone can peer in and see...the mess. Mainly for the front ones, but if I have enough, I'll put it in the small back window too. But not tonight. Tonight I cleaned the kitchen, bathroom and litterbox room. I really have to do that room weekly, cause of the tracking. Makes me nuts.
