Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Our wings are not tired.

DH has the films they gave us last night and is on his way to Miami to give them to the doc. I didn't bother to look at them because I wouldn't have a clue what I was looking at.

eta: I also don't know why they gave me films when I asked for a CD.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

A lot of the Fat Acceptance movement addresses this idea.

Thanks for the links! I was telling her to look into fat acceptance, as well as disabled feminist stuff, and feminism in general. Her concern was the size of this Facebook group she was invited to - about a million people signing up to tell all the "girls" they know that they're beautiful, without any critique of the use of the beauty myth as oppression - and so she wanted to set up an alternative and see if it goes anywhere. Which she's done. She's now contacting the press to see if she can get some interest going around this subject, to tie in with Valentine's Day.

Edited to remove a link I put up for a limited time, because of contact details.

Always Anti-fascist!

I have cried at the doctor and the dentist(The dentist didn't hurt me, but I got bad diagnostic news there that had me suckered into three professional cleanings a year for a while, something for which, as Anne Lamott says, I was not healthy enough. But it wasn't like "Marathon Man" or anything.) Now, I think I'd like my fake boyfriend Keith to come to his office and make "Have you no decency?" face at him. Tell Her She's Beautiful sounds like one of those ideas that sounds great in theory, but in practice doesn't turn out so fab. Feminist as I am, though, i have to admit "You look great," pleases a different part of my brain than "Wow, aren't you witty and incisive!" although I like both. And that should be okay, imo. I think the second-wave ideal where everybody wanders around in unisex flour sacks seems kind of off-base. Not that you shouldn't do that sometimes if you feel like it...it's the compulsory feeling of a lot of women's decoration that is the problem I have with it.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm still betting on my maternal instincts here, which my doctor also feels are reliable. Got the MRI report. Talked to my son's doctors. (4 times already this morning, bless them) The MRI doesn't show anything odd for a 15 year old. The only stuff mentioned also says age appropriate. He says the techs get excited about stuff when it may be perfectly normal for the patient's age. Also, his mono test came back negative. (I texted Bobby to kiss away)

My gut all along is that he is being hit by a combination of stuff all at once. Big growth spurt, throat infection with swollen lymph glands, and allergies. The combo has him extremely tired and weak which is very unusual for him. We go to the Neurologist Friday and get his EEG and let her look at the scans, but I think it is growing pains.

I'm blessed to have so many doctors that know and love Bobby because they have watched him grow up in their offices. Since we work with and socialize with our doctors they might get too excited when he isn't well - likely a good balance to my overly calm nature.

Thanks for the ~ma and hugs. I think he will be ok. We'll get his EEG on Friday and go from there. Bottom line - no lumbar punch - I watch House. No good could come from that.
