Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Calli, you are in luck. The only definite answer I got from the interwes is that Vorlesungen ¨uber den Islam was published in 1910, and was translated into English, without the approval of Goldziher in 1917. When that was discovered, the book was quickly withdrawn by the publisher. But, since it was translated in 1917, it means that the copyrights were expired, and you know what that means: it's available for free downloading on the interwebs.
I didn't get a clear answer whether and how much Introduction to Islamic Theology and Law and Muslim Studies are based of/translations of Vorlesungen ¨uber den Islam in their English editions. Some sources and reviews claim "a lot", others "not at all".
I hope that helps.
My thought for the day: I hate supermarkets. They never have any good gluten-free bread. I'm going back to grocery shopping online.
Health~ma to all who need it.
Teppy, I'm very glad to hear that things are looking better for the doggy.

This. (Currently on third cup of Yorkshire Gold tea. It's not getting me going on the writing yet. And you should see my 'to do' list. I've got deadlines up until April and probably well beyond AND I'M NOT EVEN EMPLOYED. Hmph.)
DickensURLs are always right-on
Is true! Hee.

Oooooh, thanks!
The electricty went back on at 5. I so do not want to be awake yet.
My office delayed opening until 11, due to icy roads. Which is nice of them, but I got up before 6, as usual, because I didn't know this would happen. I do like a leisurely morning, though.

Nobody warns people that academia is evil, ha?
ION.
I was on the grass, having lunch. I put it down for a second, to look for a book in my bad. The next moment, it was gone, and a cat near by seemed very happy. And with my lunch. In another time, I sat down to read a book and have a lunch. About 30 minutes after it, I'm looking up again, and 5 cats are staring at me.
So if anyone will ever tell you that cats don't like hummus and falafel, please let them know that they are laying lairs who lie.
I may have started today two hours later than I thought and unmotivated, but reading and thinking was good.
Right. Back to the library, away!
I am in an odd mood this morning. I am unsure as to why. It is kind of discombobulating.

"Come to our university. It's just a little one-year course. You can go back to real life afterwards. Really, you can..."
Cats and falafel, huh? Different.
I shoved a cookie onto the monitor but then it was difficult to read.
