Say hi to Seattle and Seattleistas for me!
P-C, well done, you. I know it's hard, but it sounds like you are doing the right thing for your ultimate happiness. And smonster, yay for Buffista backup and your own strength!
Health-ma to your friends, Hec.
I am having a really hard time focusing today. Blah.
Hil, good luck on the presentation, and at the interviews.
We were up until 12:30 last night, grouting the new tile in the kitchen. White Tile + Black Grout = Endless Hours of Work. We should have finished as it will be more work to remove the excess bits today, but we were both too damn tired and my back could not take another minute of leaning over the counter scraping off bits of caulk. I did NOT want to get up this morning, I tell you what.
Chiming in *super* late re the reading thing. I'm not sure how old I was when I learned how to read but I do know that it was a bit of a struggle for my book-loving family.
Much like Em, I showed *very* little interest in reading when I was in kindergarten but found math easy and interesting. The thing that made a difference for me was finding a book that was actually interesting to me (in my case, How Much Is a Million by David M. Schwartz). After that, the only problem was getting me to *stop* reading. Not sure if it helps, but that's my two cents!
ETA ~ma to everyone who needs some! (I don't post often, but I send my ~ma all the time)
and BABY PICSPAM!! Here are some pictures of Simon RaRa and Kira's baby (pictures are on facebook, I hope people can see them!)
What a beautiful boy, Helena! Congratulations to RaRa and Kira! [link] the grump in this one makes me chortle.

Huh, wha--? ND in Seattle? When? What?
Also, have internet at new house, but furniture is currently sitting in trailer at bottom of hill. Driver thinks he blew a head gasket trying to get up our street. (We WARNED them it was steep.) So now they've sent for a smaller van to shuttle stuff up the hill.
But I have internet!
He's only there for about 18 hours, Barb.
No fun with the moving truck, Barb. But yays on the internet.
Barb, the internet is so much more important than furniture.
I'm currently waiting for the plumber to arrive. I know you all wish you had a life as exciting as mine.
