I remember once, a few years ago, another grad student in my department was giving a seminar talk, and there were some people visiting the department that she really wanted to make a good impression on. She had to bring her three-year-old in with her that day, but her friend had agreed to watch the kid while she was giving her talk, and this was a friend that the kid knew and had spent plenty of time with and was totally comfortable with. Until that day. She went to give her talk, and her daughter would not let her go. She finally left, and her daughter was just screaming, "I want my mommy! I want my mommy!" This was loud enough that the mother could hear it while she was trying to give her talk. Finally, after about ten minutes of this, the last "I want my mommy!" became "I want my water!" and she was given a sippy cup of water, cuddled with her mom's friend and whimpered for a few minutes, and fell asleep.

Teppy alert! I just took two doses of decongestant pills an hour apart, due to being a dope (each pill contains 5 mg of HCI phenylephrine--so I took 20 mg altogether) Will I decongest myself to death or can I just drink some water or something?

Of course I do this an hour before I am going to have a massage.

I somehow ended up spending the afternoon playing Rock Band instead of doing laundry.

Oh, that would be because Rock Band is WAY more fun than laundry.

Just wait until they come out with Wii Laundry....

Frisco screamed every day at drop off for 6 weeks. We had two perfect no crying days before Thanksgiving. Post thanksgiving it was whimpering but since Christmas it's been full on crying and screaming and "Mommy!" complete with reaching arms and huge tears. I console myself with the fact that he is always happy when I pick him up. I hope Mathilda adjusts faster than Frisco.

My sinuses are killing me, and I had a bloody nose this morning. I cannot be getting sick now. Not even remotely an option. I can get sick in two weeks, but right now, I have to be healthy.

I think you're safe from death by decongestion. But don't take any more until tomorrow. (And, of course, if you start having bizarre symptoms, call your doctor!)

I have my wii! It was reasonably easy to set up, and I've made a handful of Miis and played a couple of games. Big fun.

I dropped of my nephew at daycare for a while for my sister, and she didn't prepare me for the trauma that first day (to me; he was fine two minutes later). I probably cried longer than he did. He's 27 now. Not sure how the hell that happened so damn fast. Actually, he had settled for her at drop off by then. I think it was just the change up to the routine that threw him. Aw.

Anyway, my point is, I'm sorry for the parents that have to go through it. Rough enough as an aunt!
