I think this is what the kids call a migraine. Ibuprofen not working, feeling nauseated, and just had to ask KBD to turn down the music, and it's one of my CDs. I think a shower and liedown are in order.
'Shells'
Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Shower achieved, shot of Beam taken, heating pad procured, liedown to commence. See y'all on the flipside.
smonster, if you can tolerate Tylenol, it might help to take some, along with some form of caffeine. Excedrin, which helps for at least some people's migraines (mine, for instance) is asperin, Tylenol, and caffeine. I don't think you should take asperin with the Ibu, but the rest of the cocktail might make a difference.
ETA: Damn, I didn't type fast enough. Ah well, maybe by the time you see this, the full Excedrin cocktail would be do-able. Rest well, smonster, and feel better soon.
Thanks, WS, but caffeine gives me headaches, unlike other people. I believe drinking coffee before eating was a key factor in this one.
Really lying down now.
Oooh, Nora, that sounds amazing!
Had a seven course Revillion menu on Christmas night at Restaurant August
What's a Revillion menu? (I'm sure the description will make me hungry!)
I finally went to the doctor today because after 2 weeks, the cold is still hanging on, which in and of itself isn't enough to make me call the doctor. However, my chest has been really tight, in an oh-crap-this-feels-like-asthma way (though I haven't actually had wheezing or rales, but I recognize all too well this chest tightness), and I have a dry cough that will not go away.
Doctor gave me an inhaler, an Rx cough suppressant (he said that the OTC ones don't really do much), and antibiotics. I asked if I really needed the antibiotics (with my IBS, I don't want to fuck up my intestinal flora further), he said he's seeing a LOT of Mycobacterium infections that are in the trachea/esophagus/lung area, and they can turn into bronchitis or pneumonia. So I said, Okay, give me the antibiotics!
I do still feel like hell, and I had a low fever at the doctor's office, so I guess I wasn't overreacting by going in to see him.
And then we came back and the dog peed in the dining room. Not while we were gone; after we got back. Not on, Kato! Not on!
I'm going to drug myself and retreat to the bedroom with comics and hopefully get a good long nap, since we're planning to make merry tonight.
TCG was just looking at his old blood test results from previous years and confirmed my suspicion that his doctor had never before tested him for thyroid issues. It took three years of TCG telling his doctor he was tired too often to get the test run. The lesson being don't take "that's what happens when you are in your 40s" as a final answer for something.
smonster, can you force yourself to eat something before you lie down. I know it can be hard when you feel awful, but it can help.
Lavender tea:
Teppy, I hope the drugs helps and you're on the mend soon.

The stupid CFC-free inhalers are just not as good as the old CFC-having, ozone-layer-destroying ones. Grumble.
The only thing I have done for the party tomorrow is to soak the black beans (well and clean and bought alcohol). Not good. I need my back and head to give me a small break so that I can deal with this stuff. It would also help if it would stop snowing.
