Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Pursuant to the recent discussion we had on affect/effect, here is the most brilliant grammatical teaching aid I've seen in a long time: 10 Words You Need to Stop Misspelling. Bonus: it's illustrated!

Cool! I think I've linked to their guide to apostrophes, which is also a thing of beauty: [link]

From a bit upthread:

I think the logo patch will be the most difficult part. I'd love to get it done in embroidery but that may be prohibitively expensive. But then again, she knows a TON of crafty people in Columbus so we might be able to work something out.

Cashmere, if you want I can check with my aunt, who has one of those computerized sewing machines that will embroider patterns. She could probably put together a few patches if I asked.

This is where the family is going for New Year's. [link] We haven't done anything together in ages and it took a little convincing at the price, but dad was game.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

My family used to get together and go to a restaurant every NYD because it was my grandmother's birthday, but we stopped that tradition a few years after she passed away. Now TCG and I have people over our place. We'll probably be spending NYE cooking and prepping for NYD.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Yeah, there are things I love about breast feeding (bonding, mainly), but the pump is just hideous. I'm also at the sore boobies phase so am willing them to toughen up quickly. It's worth it, though, for all the benefits of breast feeding. And with that, I'm off to feed the child. Again. t sigh

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I hope it gets easier, GC.

Question for moms: Did you take classes or get training on how to breastfeed? My mom did back in the 70s and I'm curious as to whether this still happens. It included tips like roughening up your nipples with a washcloth in preparation.

I just provided half an hour of iPod phone support to my sister. The two main problems were solved by *pushing in the headphone jack all the way.* After I had asked her once if she had them plugged in all the way. She thought so, but apparently you have to push really hard.

Also, if anyone else has a 5th gen Nano, do you know how to get to the sound equalizer? I told her to go to Settings and look for EQ, but she claims it's not there.

And I think I'll go post that in Tech.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My sister claimed I broke her iTunes two years ago and she hasn't been able to synch since. Turns out that "sync" checkbox? Unchecked. Broken, my ass. Now, if she'd mentioned not being able to synch, say, 23 months ago, who knows what wild and crazy things might have happened.

Yeah, my sis inherited my mom's Luddite gene to some extent. She's loving the Nano for the most part b/c she could never figure out her Zen (to be honest, I couldn't either). She just can't find the EQ.

Dear customer: Calling 1/2 hr before closing time the day before a holiday for urgent Monday morning service does not endear you to me. Also? Ain't gonna happen.

eta And I'm out of here to hit yet another PO ISO a small flat rate shipping box. This will be #3.

Librarian Warlord

Did you take classes or get training on how to breastfeed?

No. I think how much information you get depends a lot on your OB's office, the childbirth class you take, etc. I try to tell everyone I know to find a lactation consultant before you deliver (and to ask at every pediatrician's office you visit) so you know where to go for help if you need it, and to insist on seeing one in the hospital even if you don't think you're having trouble.

(I hope I remembered to tell GC that!)
