You got fired, and you still hang around here like a big loser. Why can't he?

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Snow Apocalypse of Aught Nine, still coming down hard.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Where are you again, Zen? My bf's son is supposed to be flying in tonight from Philly, and we're a little anxious.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Jessica posted it in Movies, but it needs to be posted everywhere. It's hilarious, I agree. I want to incorporate "Damn, we only got one Hippogriff!" into my lexicon.

move out and draw fire

And that's actual measurements, not some guy "estimating".

See, up until last night, that was my theory...I assumed male meteorologists had taken over forecasting and were describing 5 inches as "closer to 20 inches."

Erin, I'm in Charlottesville, Virginia. About 2 hours southwest of DC.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I'd like to thank you all for reminding me what snow looks like.

From here, where it's at best (coldest) 10 C at night. Still looking forward to Feb., though. Maybe will get tiny bit of snow then.

Hail fellow snowpocalypsers! I've been posting pictures in Natter, too: [link]

I'm bored.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

The frozen-over snow in Leeds is seriously treacherous. (Although I feel a bit silly now, with all of you and your thousands of inches of the stuff.) I swear I'd have multiple dislocations now if it weren't for my awesome friends looking after me. Apropos of which, a great day-and-a-half was had with them, and I even managed to get a meeting with the head of my MA course about PhD possibilities (plus a reviewing gig from her - she edits the book review section of an academic journal). And then fellow fangirl friend (whose wonderful semi-accessible house she invited me to stay in) marathoned half a season of Castle for most of today. All very good stuff indeed. Am now on a train that is helpfully moving at a decent speed, unlike the one on the way up that couldn't cope with the snow.

Shir, the conference sounds like it was fun! (But, eugh, Lacan. Psychology and me: un-mixy things. Except for Jung. I like Jung.)

FTR: I have no idea what's this ice and snow you're speaking of.

Which makes even more sense of my discussion with The Girl, *during* the carol service at church on Wednesday, about the appropriateness of winter language in Christmas carols. (But it certainly feels appropriate, what with the temperatures in this particular country.)

sj, your nephew is a cutie!

Glamcookie, sending many wishes for speedy arrival of your parents.

Winter break!

Have a good one, Hil.

Health~ma for your mom, erika.

And then I skimmed 130-odd posts. So. Hi! What are we talking about?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I am watching a ridiculous Lifetime movie. Basic plot is a teenage or college-age guy's girlfriend is pregnant, girlfriend puts the baby up for adoption, the baby's father doesn't want to put the baby up for adoption, so he kidnaps the baby from the hospital. I'm fairly certain adoption laws don't work like that.
