Angel: If I'm not back in a couple of hours— Gunn: You're dead, we're screwed, end of the world.

'Underneath'

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Congrats to Gris!

Wow. You people have some weird FB friends.

I mainly avoid Facebook in favour of twitter these days - I can't cope with a forum composed almost exclusively of RL friends. Despite them all being guitar-playing long-skirt-wearing left-wing softies, it's still not a good place for me, my opinions or my developed-over-fifteen-years experience of what a troll is.

Now, it's actually called "Reconciliation", not "Confession", and it's built in to the mass, so that you aren't required to do it every week, unless you've done BAAAAAD things, you can still take communion. You ARE still supposed to do it (with the priest, and it used to be with the screen between you and now it's face to face, but some will still do the screen thing if you want) at least...er...once a year? Before major holidays? Mind is slipping on that one.

Oh! They've gone Anglican. We've done it that way since about Henry VIII. Or Queen Elizabeth II. I forget. They're easily confused.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I was defriended by two people today, including my friend's mom. It's probably a day for a cleansing purge.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I was defriended by two people today

I haven't checked FB in more than a cursory way for a couple of weeks, and between the Prop. 8 decision and this not!mosque nonsense, I think that's a good thing. Because I don't have any tolerance for bullshit right now. Most of my FB friends are leftist pinkos like me, but there's a fair amount who are people from HS who seem to have right-wing propaganda on their user info.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I really kinda feel bad about having to harsh on this friend because she's a transexual (m to f)lesbian, and also Jewish, so she often feels pretty on the outside looking in herself.

But that's also why it baffles me that she would (figuratively) crawl into bed with someone who clearly hates gays as well.

Favorite analogy so far (from Gawker)

By that logic, rednecks aren't allowed to display a confederate flag within two blocks of any African American person.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

By that logic, rednecks aren't allowed to display a confederate flag within two blocks of any African American person.

Driving aound on Saturday we heard a great short story -- usurping culture ( I do not remember the exact title )

all about changing the meaning of the Confederate flag...

correction: The second story, Percival Everett's "The Appropriation of Cultures," also defies our expectations as its hero hits on a novel strategy for defeating racial prejudice. The reader is the Tony Award-winning ("Seven Guitars") Broadway actor and director Ruben Santiago Hudson.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

The more right wing leaning people on my FB friends list seem to ignore anything they don't like that I post, as I try to ignore anything that I don't like that they post.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I made the mistake of posting something political to my FB profile and a cool friend from another board outed himself as a Fox-lover. Really disappointed me.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Talked someone out of her mosque nonsense today. It was refreshing.

She did not know:

That it is a few blocks away
That it was a Y
That there have been mosques in the nabe for years
That the community board approved the zoning
That there is a mosque in the pentagon

These conversations are probably easier on the phone than on facebook.
