The car I learned to drive on, and that I drove for most of junior and senior years of high school (which was actually the last time I drove regularly) was a Camry. I liked that car a lot, but I really hate the new Camrys -- the new body is supposed to be more aerodynamic, but it ends up creating a ton of blind spots for me, and I can never figure out how to adjust the seat and the steering wheel so that it doesn't feel all off-balance and wrong.
There's a Scion xD Zipcar in the space across the street from me now. Maybe I'll rent that for half an hour over the weekend, to get a feel for it.
My sister just bought a 5-door Yaris that is very roomy and comfy.
Also, why would you be using a riding crop and not at WORK?"
I went there, too. I get so oddly literal sometimes.
(Also, we are SO spoiled, having an empty house [owner died; the adult daughters who inherited it are letting it hang in probate -- for almost 3 years now] on our bedroom side. When it gets sold/rented/whatever, we are going to have to really watch our noise level.)
Dude, Hil, you've wanted a Mini 4EVAH!!!
Get the Mini! Buy it at a dealership near your folks and do your scheduled shit whenever you head home to see them.
Hil, I was going to suggest checking Zipcar to see what they have to do a mini test drive.
Hey Tom, are you free tomorrow night or this weekend? I'm going to the Evanston VW. There's dinner in it for you.
She's been DRIVING Zipcar Minis for YEARS. She
looooooves
them!
Get the Mini! GET THE MINI!!!!

Heh. A bit later, his girlfriend emerged from the bedroom and came downstairs, so I suspect it may have been a matter of "oh...you came home..." type "middle of the day". :)
I just need to figure out if I can afford the Mini.
Hil, my current life lesson is that, if you can't afford the car, DON'T BUY IT. You may think that you'll just tighten your belt for the next 5 years, but you won't.
Not affording it is another matter.
Of course, there is then a
used
Mini.
