I think one difference is that, when gay men watch the gay stuff, the watcher can fantasize (almost by definition) being in the, um, shoes of more than one, um, participant. Straight men watching the het stuff, that's less likely.

I don't know that that's actually true. Even in the mainstream stuff I don't watch, there's at least some kind of nod to the female orgasm, in that she'll at least make orgasm noises.
