Happy Birthday, Hec.
Aims, I'm so sorry about the food poisoning. That's just the worst.
The problem with ND trying to do all of the activities is that since the ship doesn't have any port stops, the 4500 guests are all trying to share them as well. The internet isn't free, but the bigger problem is that it is So. Slow. Think dial-up slow. It also drops out unexpectedly because of the satellite uplink, and of course you can't call anyone. It really is beyond boring without any company on a ship by yourself. I think also that all the things that are fun become a lot less fun when you've been working on ships as much as he has these past couple of years. I can totally understand the cabin fever.
But ND, you will be in NYC in three days, and I get to see you for a couple days before you get stuck back on a ship again, so YAY for that!
I'm sorry you're still not feeling well, Aims. If you can keep fluids down, that might help with the headache. Sometimes headaches are caused by dehydration.
Hi, all!
Happy birthday to JZ and Hec!
I had a great time on my little trip. My friend's new addition to her house looks amazing, and the weather was wonderful, and it was all lovely.
I have a ton of stuff to get ready for my class, and I am so brain dead.
I got some presents, too -- a large wooden tray, liberty of london nesting bowls, some really pretty ice cream colored nesting bowls, some undies, a framed and matted wedding photo.
I hate when mental health workers start saying things like "Have you ever thought about trying CBT?" *repeatingheaddesk*
Aims, feeling-better~ma. Sounds nasty.
Happy birthday to David!
Are we still on for half five, Seska?
Indeed we are, Jars. I was just about to text you to confirm. See you shortly!
Coolbeans. Leaving the office now. See you there!
Sorry for the threadjack. Erm, puppies!
Drew, is internet wildly expensive?
The Internet I get is at the crew rate, but that is still $20 for 200 minutes. Keep in mind that is it like a low modem on a bad phone line for the connection.
The rest of what Kristin says is true. I'm fighting with the real guests for stuff to do. I might go bowling today or tomorrow if someone else from the Nick team is bored enough to do it. Single Malt drinking is tempting but it would be crazy expensive on board and I'm trying to keep costs under control.
Eh. It will be fine when I get to NYC. Also I'm not behind. This is the schedule we knew would happen. My tech time is between NYC and Miami. I just needed this time for a few meetings and prep but with a crossing there is no way to leave the ship partway.
This is where I put on my teacher hat and tout the Joys of Reading.
