The local bead store was running a design competition - submit pieces that were at least 50% pearls (June's birth"stone"), they'd be displayed for a couple of weeks, anyone coming into the store could vote on their favorites.
Last Friday they called and told me the necklace I'd submitted won 2nd place in its category.

after tomorrow, the only thing I have to work on is my dissertation defense -- the writing will be done.

My travel day tomorrow will be a bit crazy. First I have a 2.5 hour train ride to NYC, then the LIRR to the Airtrain to JFK. After that an 8 hour flight to Amsterdam where I will change planes for a quick flight to Southhampton. I think I arrive around 10:30 AM. I will be quite tired. At least all the travel will be business class.
