You're right. He's evil. But you should see him naked. I mean really!

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Seska, congrats on getting it done and turned in!

OMG! 5! Crazy. Happy B-day to lil Em!!

P-C, tons of KeepTheJob~ma for you. I'm surprised that they didn't do this all on Friday? End of pay period and all type of thing.

So far my "day off" has been * some sleep * flurry of e-mails * scrub tub and toilet. Mmm fun! Now to do dishes and make something to eat. The bitch of it is, the work that I need to do is waiting for others to firm up contracts to understand what equipment we need. Boss knows I can't progress until that is hammered out. But wants progress either way. Ugg.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I'm surprised that they didn't do this all on Friday?

Well, at least everyone could actually enjoy their holiday! (unlike, say, my mom.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That sucks and should not be legal.

I have my own personal thing about it, of course- my mom got laid off on Wednesday soon after coming back from LTD leave recovering from knee replacement surgery.

To be honest, I had been fearing something like this might happen for a while since before her LOA (for a major surgery), she had to take sick days constantly because of her pain. Sometimes she would work from home, though. It soon became an issue for us since we had to unexpectedly work around her absence at times. And then when she got back, she still had to take a couple sick days; I guess her first week back was too exhausting. In any case, I can't help but think that it was a factor in the decision to lay her off.

I'm surprised that they didn't do this all on Friday? End of pay period and all type of thing.

They committed to informing everyone by the "end of the month." Which is the end of our pay period, so everyone's last paychecks were deposited before the weekend anyway. We weren't here on Friday.

Well, at least everyone could actually enjoy their holiday! (unlike, say, my mom.)

Oh shit, you mean THIS Wednesday? Before Thanksgiving? Damn.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I would suggest donating it. while unpleasant, it's still part of history. I think that we should not whitewash (heh) embarassing or unpleasant historical facts, because then people can't learn from others' mistakes.

I think this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to email the Jim Crow museum up at Ferris State [link] and see if they want it.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Back from Matilda's doctor appointment.

Vaccinistas will be happy to hear she got both the seasonal and H1N1. Matilda was not happy about it. I foolishly opted for the nasal spray for the seasonal and I think that was more upsetting for her than the shot in her thigh.

After...

Me: That wasn't fun was it? You didn't like it when they squirted the medicine up your nose.
Matilda: That was a mistake.

We got ice cream for a treat after but she only ate about a third of it and already looked droopy when I dropped her off at daycare. (The ice cream lady gave her extra because she was a brave girl and her daycare provider promised to make her favorite soup for lunch.)

Before the vaccines, Matilda was super charming with Dr. Uba and we are pleased to announce she's exactly 50% for height and weight for the first time ever. (She never cracked 20% as a baby.)

Since Monday insists on being thorougly Mondayish, I now have to drive to the East Bay (on my offday) and take Emmett to the doctor. As it is the first day after a longish holiday he's not back in school. (Grump grump. Source of long contention with EM.) He's got some bad canker sores in his mouth and what looks like - possibly - athlete's foot.

For this I would not keep him out of school. Plus now I get four trips across the Bay Bridge that I had not planned for. Yeah.

Tomorrow we take the car in for a tuneup because it's old, and cranky and has been misfiring badly. I am hoping that a spark plugs and points will be all it needs to recover.

::crosses fingers for no expensive car surprises.::

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Well, at least everyone could actually enjoy their holiday! (unlike, say, my mom.)

My mom got fired the Friday before her birthday.

However, she got the last laugh by getting a job with the high school that's the rival of the one that fired her.

Oh ya forgot Friday was holiday for folks.

Dishes are in the dishwasher. Hopefully that solves the "what's that smell" riddle. Pizza is in the oven.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Congratulations, Seska!

Happy birthday to Emeline! I can't believe how grown up she is. Where's the baby I was snuggling at the NO F2F just a little while ago?

Museum sounds like the right place for that book, Aims.

{{P-C}}

{{Nora's Mom}} because that still sucks a whole lot.

No expensive car surprises for anyone, I so decree.

I am pondering going and cleaning out the Toyota before I hear from the insurance company. I am half-worried that the garage will dismantle it before I officially hear that it's to be totaled and I won't get back my FasTrak thingy and other random bobs and bits floating around in the trunk...
