Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I think the script was a bit better too. But ya, the talent wasn't the best. They spent their cash on getting a real strong Peter Pan. She was awesome!

“Not dead yet!”

The thing that the movie version that was expanded on from the play is that you actually have the male characters as actual entities. Couple that with the fact that they were played by the likes of Tom Skerritt and Sam Shepard and yeah, tough to match that, especially when you add in the female actors.

Play or movie, the way that movie is structured, it rides a really fine line between reality and caricature. It would be so easy for it to devolve into a farce or parody of Southern women.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I have an appointment with the girly doctor tomorrow and I am suddenly very considering that I should groom the area.

The first time I ever went *gasp* bare down there, I realized that I had a dr appt a few days later. I tried not to blush.

Now? I figure they've seen absolutely everything.

I went to a Seventh Day Adventist camp as a kid. Fun camp. Awful food. At the time I could not comprehend people being vegetarian and eating fake meat.

There are no squirrels in my attic! Just in the roof area over my outside storage. Which, yes, bad. But no squirrels over my head at night. Good.

Ya, I think that is exactly what happened. Not good when you are actually PERFORMING in the South. That might be why it didn't sell all that well.

ION- The state of New York can kiss my rosy white ass. Those fuckers just extorted $25 from me because they said there was a lapse in my insurance THIRTEEN YEARS ago (after I moved to CA and had insurance in CA) and unless I could prove that I had insurance THIRTEEN YEARS ago, the only way to clear the record is to pay the fine. Um, I thought we were only required to save records from seven years ago! "I'm sorry sir, but the only way to clear the record is to pay the fine, or prove coverage." "That's extortion!" "I do not know what that means. But I can say, everything has changed in NY since 9/11". OK, yes, 9/11 was horrible, tragic. But a) what the hell does this have to do with terrorists hijacking a plane? Did they let there car insurance lapse? and b) Fuck you for blaming everything on 9/11, and how dare you throw that in EVERYONES face for EVERYTHING!

t /vent

sorry about that. really pissed me off. Now, I gotta wait for that charge to clear before I can go get my CA drivers license, which will be 5-7 days. Which will be when I am at work. Which means I can't be at DMV for a couple hours waiting on line. The best was when she said I could monitor the status online. "go to the www.nysdmv.com website, click on the... oh, I'm not sure, but just ask about the status of your drivers license". Um, just ask? Ask WHO? You do realize, it's not a counter, the site has set parameters, there is no person there that says take a number or anything, right? UGGGGGG!

t /more venting

OK, I'm going to breathe now. It's only $25 +$5 for credit card handling. :: breathe ::

(Aims, can you smite New York State DMV for me?)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

everything has changed in NY since 9/11

Nah, I'm pretty sure our state government was full of assholes and red tape before 9/11.

I was also a camp counselor a few times.

I know that at the time you were a believer, but the though of you as a church camp councilor fills me with a wicked, devilish glee.

Wow. That's pretty impressive DMV asshattery. CA is usually pretty good at havung the worst DMV. I do like the fact that every few years the state legislature has to stop the DMV from new sets of illegal charges.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yeah, DH had a similar thing last time he renewed his license, omnis - a hold for a ticket he'd gotten in Vermont 6 years ago (for being in a boat with not enough PFDs). Something just changed allowing states access to a database of all the other states' records of infractions so all this ancient stuff is popping up.

I roll my eyes at the 9/11 remark.

Ah, yes. and I got to experience something I think you natives never did - the DMV being forced to give me back my $300 out of state smog abatement fee.
