Oooh, threading! I need to look into that. That was the other thing I was considering, along with sugaring.
Waxing hurts like a motherfucker
This is what I'm afraid of. You would think after the various tattoos I've gotten, the idea of waxing wouldn't make me nervous. Also, I have sensitive skin, and am starting to become prone to ingrown hairs on my legs (not cool, body. Do not want.), so I need to figure out SOMETHING.
I also have wickedly sensitive skin that hates the whole hair removal process
Me, too. I feel you on that.
And, gah, I need to de-fur my eyebrows. I was going to do that tonight, and so far I've managed to cut up strawberries and taunt the dog.
My skin is really sensitive to waxing. Whenever I go to get my face waxed, I warn the beautician that I have really sensitive skin, and she nods and say "OK" as if she's heard all this before, and then she pulls off the first wax strip and watches in horror as my skin turns bright red.

One of our good friends has a salon, and consistently wins awards for "Best Waxing in the City" (she's actually going to be waxing a Bridezilla -- as in the TV show). Part of why she's so good is how fast she is at waxing; I think for both legs it took her 15 minutes, maybe? And it was thorough and really good.
Anyway, my point (and I do have one) was that she goes so quickly *because* that way the pain isn't prolonged. (But fuck, it still hurt like a bastard.)
I would do a bikini wax any day before I would have my legs waxed again. Seriously - more awful than any other pain I've experienced.

Bikini and thighs don't bother me in the slightest. I practically fall asleep. Lower legs, however... OMG Do Not Want Ever Again.
My other problem is hair on my chest areas, long black ugly hairs that are prone to getting ingrown after they've been plucked.

The pain part of threading takes a little longer than waxing. Upper lip will make my eyes water, chin I barely feel. I haven't done my eyebrows.
My very fair face, however, is red and irritated for hours after being waxed but only for a few minutes after threading. The "no skin is removed" makes a big difference.
So on the whole, for me, the pain is less with the threading. And the argument that its less wrinkle-inducing over the long term seems reasonable -- there is a whole lot less stretching of my skin.
I'd say the results last about as long either way, maybe a little longer with the threading.
Plei, my friend Stef is like that, too. I can't mention hair removal around her, or else she punches me, and it's justified -- she spends an hour a day plucking her face. And summertime is an absolute horror for her.
She's tried everything.
