[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Mmm, just ate me some leftover pie.

Compassionately intolerant

Thanksgiving was lovely. Big dinner with good friends.

I made two cranberry sauces (one savory with ginger and red wine vinegar, -my favorite- and one sweet with citrus) and a truly awesome pumpkin cheesecake. I used my Halloween pumpkin, which made me feel all virtuous. The crust was crushed almonds...gluten free and more awesome than you'd expect.

The cheesecake was voted best out of the 10 pies we had. (for 10 people, no lie. OVERkill) I will definitely be making it again.

It was a warm, but rainy day. Today? Wicked cold. Winter is surely here. brrrr.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Hiya. I'm in Savannah. Most of the cleaning was done when we got here - my uncle cleaned the living rm furniture with a toothbrush - but I did get to clean up some spots on the carpet and wipe down the kitchen cabinets. Honestly, the whole house needs cleaning, painting, etc., but no time to do any of that now.

It's actually less stressful than it has been because all the tvs are off (no Fox News!) and we don't have to worry about my grandma. My parents are picking up my brother at the airport now.

Lovely to read about everone's time with friends and family.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

The pumpkin flan recipe on Epicurious neglected to mention that you need to warm the bottom of the pan before unmolding in order to melt the caramel, so our pumpkin flans were more like crustless pumpkin pies (but smoother and more custardy). Still pretty darn delicious, though. There is one left which I will re-attempt after our leftovers feast tonight.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

I have a fridge full of leftovers, some of which only I can eat (the actual turkey, stuffing made w/sausage, etc.), thanks to me being an omnivore while The Boy is a vegetarian.

However, I have been feeling on the verge of puking for about 4 hours, and I have that weird metallic taste in my mouth that happens when puking is imminent.

I don't know what's up with that, but it's pissing me off, b/c I want to put some leftovers in my belly.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

You mean when your mouth tastes like a zinc lozenge? I hate that taste. I don't associate it with nausea in general, but at the same time whenever I get it, it makes me want to splat.

Ugh. So sorry for you, Steph.

Steph, I hope it's a false alarm and you feel better soon.

Thanks, flea, me too.

Grandpa is sorting mail. We just had our first argument of the visit over the n word. And my sis was tapping my foot to get me to shut up but damn, I gotta draw the line somewhere. ION, it is mind-boggling the variety and kook level of the mail he gets. Japanese nutrition supplements, solicitations from a dozen charities I've never even heard of, right wing crap... It goes on and on.

I had some leftovers, and so far all seems well.

SO FAR.
