Tons of ~ma out to Nashville! I haven't heard anything, as I've been without news these past few days. Getting to a hotel past the central time 5:30 news, and not getting NPR anywhere. Beth, stay safe!
Pix, omg! What a...a... I dunno what is the right word. If she pulls that shite with you again, say something like "I'd be happy to if you'd be so kind as to front $_ _ _._ _ to cover expenses". In the meantime, tons of job~ma that the interview works out, and results in an awesome offer with good pay and fab students.
Hil, best of luck! I hope a decision comes soon enough that you can play them off each other, or just take the place you like best.
I had a productive day on the road. First I should say, DCJ linked to an awesome site, that I realized I had already bookmarked, not the turn by turn section. Then I realized, oh ya, I purchased a FLIP BOOK with detailed directions. Not as detailed as the website, but a TON easier to read than my iPhone. Amazing that I had planned ahead during super stress-fest, but forgot what I had done. D'oh! Anyhow, I only did about 120 miles, as the crow flies, but had some fun! Did some back tracking to see things. I missed a turn and got on the 40. Of course, looong stretches between exits. I decided to back track, because the section I missed was a stretch of dirt road that was part of the Route 66 pre-paved days 1926-1932! And since it was dry, I did it! Very cool. The neat thing about nobody being on the road is, you can stop, back up, and get the picture you wanted, and not worry about another car blaring a horn and hitting ya. I started the morning off at the Sand Hills Curiosity Shop and was serenaded by the "Mediocre Music Makers". A lovely pair of old hippies living on the 66. Then did the dirt road thing. Next was a quick pic of the U-Drop Inn in Shamrock, TX. And then some pics of a pair of old gas stations, one was the first Phillips 66 in Texas, the other, just a random gas station that was in pretty good condition. A section of the ride today was on original pavement. Grass growing in the seams between sections. I snapped some pics of the Leaning Water Tower. I didn't stop for the Largest Cross, but did snap a pic from the roadway at 45 mph. Ya, not safe, but there is NOBODY on the road. In Conway, I got out and tagged all the VW bugs at the Punch Bug Ranch (there are 5 of them). And then finished the night at the Big Texan for a steak dinner. They got a hotel next door, with old west themed building. It's cute. It was 6pm, so I figured, eh, I won't make Cadillac before sunset, I'll camp here. Alas, no wi-fi. Thankfully the restaurant does, and if I keep the wooden window shutter closed, I get signal for my laptop, but not the iPhone. Crazy, huh? Anyhow, that was my day on the road. I didn't hear from the mover of when he will arrive in LBC. I'm worried I'll have to pick up the pace. A 1500 mile journey can't be done in 150 mile/day jaunts. I'm hoping to be back in town for M's birthday on Friday.
