Hee. Meanwhile, I am closer to you right now, Barb!

We went down to check out the pools and the beach, earlier. The beach was lovely, but we just waded in. And then by the time we came back up to the room to change and changed our dinner reservation...suddenly the sky was all dark and grey, and we decided to watch some nice dog show on TV, and stuff. Maybe beach and pool later. Friend is napping... ;)

The tree is up. Half an hour in, and the cat's shown no real interest, in spite of a number of feathered, bird-shaped ornaments.

He's waiting until I leave for work on Monday, I just know it.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Oh, gosh. Yay! Best Thanksgiving in years! Am a bit tipsy from wine drinking, and Wii playing. Dinner went well, everything was tasty, and everyone got along famously. My 69 YO and 65 YO dad and mom played Wii bowling, and now my mom wants one.

It was fun and good, and my kitchen isn't even a mess. I think I may take a nap.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I'm just sitting here missing Andi (She's at work until 11) and trying to get up the gumption to attack my two main projects, cleaning my future office, and looking for a better job.

Meanwhile, I ran into this somewhat NSFW accidentally phallic turkey cake [link] on failblog, and knowing things like that go over well with some here, I thought I would share the horror.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Happy thanksgiving everyone! I just wanted to pop in and say I'm thankful for all of you.

Aidan made apple pie and dinner rolls. Kara made pumpkin pie and stuffing. Both of them made a cheese ball. I made the turkey, three different kinds of salad, mashed potatoes, and pecan pie bars. We ate at 3:30 (always later than we intend), and now have a refrigerator stuffed with enough leftovers for another 4 or 5 dinners.

Nick is coming over and we're going to play dominoes and eat cheese ball with fancy crackers, and possibly have dessert.

I'm a very tired but happy mom, mostly because the kids got such a kick out of everything.

Happy Thanksgiving, Deena. Aidan and Kara are making pies now?!? Wow. I didn't try that until I was a teenager.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Deena, that sounds lovely!

Mom overfed us as usual. Food coma.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I'll join you in the food coma, sj. I stuffed myself over at my daughter's. Her boyfriend deep-fried the turkey this year, it turned out delish! Very moist. We did pretty much the standards, garlic smashed potatoes, mashed candied sweet potatoes, two different stuffings, cranberry-orange sauce, roasted asparagus, pumpkin rolls (Alexia's first attempt at a yeast bread, they turned out pretty well), pumpkin pie, apple pie, key lime pie and pineapple upside-down cake.

I am stuffed, but contemplating a glass of wine, now that I'm home on my own sofa.

Trust my rage

Happy Thanksgiving! We had Joe's awesome turkey and my mom and aunt made everything else it was so good, but now I feel ill. The best was a chocolate mousse cake with amazing port. I didn't think anything could make chocolate better but the port was heavenly.

Joe and I are leaving the house at 3:45! tomorrow mornng to buy a TV but other than that, we are avoiding Black Friday at all costs.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I am full of food. Squash and chestnut casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. Oh, and this recipe [link] is awesome -- it's sorta like the traditional green bean casserole, but much more mushroomy and the sauce is more gravy-like than creamy. My family is usually meh on the traditional green bean casserole when someone makes it -- some people like it, some don't, most will eat it but don't think it's anything special -- but everybody loved this one.
