Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

“Not dead yet!”

Hey, Barb, did Lewis ever hear anything on that job?

He did, Nora, last week. They sent an email with their regrets. In talking to friends of ours in the industry we've come to the conclusion that it may well have been down to Lewis and one other person who probably had more experience. I mean, the interview went as well as it possibly could have, he interviewed pretty high up the food chain, and most importantly, even days after it was done, he couldn't think of a single thing he regretted saying or would have said differently.

He was pretty bummed for a few days, but he's done a few days' worth of contract work and he's back on the hunting trail. Also, he had communication with one of the people with whom he interviewed and they told him they were definitely keeping his resume on file, so we'll see. Onward, right?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Thanks for the hugs and the ~ma last night. It was nice to read while I couldn't sleep. My appointment is in a couple of hours. Don't wanna.

Trust my rage

You guys! I am going to be on the radio, maybe, in 15 minutes to talk about immigration. I'm nervous I will sound dumb or worse, ineffectual.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Stephanie, I suspect you are on now, but know in your head, you are a Buffista! And, as a group, it is well known, we are wise, and very opinionated. You will sound very smart, and do wonderfully.

Do I quit the group I started the first place? Ask the guy to leave? Clearly there's a problem here, and there's only so much I can do - but I can't change my native tongue to Russian nor have the knowledge of 3 years in linguistics he has.
Shir, I would ask the group. At the start of the next session, just put it out there. "hey everyone, I know I pulled this study group together, and I just want to make sure everyone thinks it is helping. It seems me and xxxx are butting heads for sections of our time. I want to make sure that isn't distracting from the goal, and is there anything we can do to make it go better/smoother". Something along those lines. I leave it to the hive mind for other opinions. We seem to be wiser as a group.

ION. I got some sleep. I feel a little less stressed. Lots of little things to tackle before leaving. But I think manageable. But must resist temptation of recliner chair, tv, and interwebs.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You'll be great, Stephanie. Just remember to take a breath before you speak, start deliberately and compose your thought before you blab. Also be conscious of your "uhms" and "like" verbal filler.

That's what has worked for me on the radio. Mostly I have a written note in front of me that says "Slow Down!"

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

ah, damn, Barb, I'm sorry. Keeping my fingers crossed that the experience eventually leads to a payoff!

Thanks, guyys! The producer said I was great. I almost forgot my phone number, though.

Mostly lurking...

vw, how's your mother doing?

She’s doing pretty well. Nothing is broken or pinched. She’s got some good painkillers, and she’s back at work today.

You guys! I am going to be on the radio, maybe, in 15 minutes to talk about immigration. I'm nervous I will sound dumb or worse, ineffectual.

You will be amazing, because you are amazing. Oh, and I see it went well. YAY!
